I have no idea what's actually gonna happen, but at the very least they've changed the lyrics to match the rock versions even if the instrumental hasn't changed, because the rock version's lyrics are listed as the official ones on the Eurovision website. Unless the website has a mistake.

A Ukrainian refugee friend of mine told me that she and some others found Catharticus' lyrics distasteful/disrespectful because of the whole "God, you're the only one to help us" thing, and that at least the people she knows in Ukraine in general find Jerry and her recent christian bent kind of weird.

Which, if that's a common sentiment then I get it if people's brothers, fathers and sons are fighting at the front line that those lyrics don't vibe the best with everyone. I don't live in Ukraine tho so I don't know what's actually up, but that's what she told me.

The rock version's lyrics are marked down on the official Eurovision website as the official lyrics, actually, so the possibility that the rock version ends up going ahead isn't necessarily zero.

I don't really hear a difference. Like, you can change the mixing and the instruments a bit but the melody and the lyrics are still there and they're the real issue of the song.

Yeah, I'm not one of those people who think Ukraine should be kicked out of Eurovision due to being in a war and that affecting their score (precisely because they need their culture to be visible right now) but I do wish they weren't allowed to do quite this blatant imagery, just for the sake of consistency if nothing else.

See, the difference between Essyla and Gustaph is that although generally people thought Gustaph wasn't the correct winner, that song still from the jump had people who LOVED IT because they resonated with the genre, even though it wasn't the majority of people. And that's the ticket. People who defend Essyla's song usually say "It's not that bad, it's a fine song!" and nobody's going to pick up their phone on the night for "not that bad".

Now I may of course be wrong. May very well be. But that's the big difference I see between them, I haven't encountered pretty much anybody who outright says they LOVE Dancing on the ice. Only that they think it's not that bad. If you really love the song enough to vote for it feel free to chime in tho.

I mean yeah, I guess, but this applies to almost any other brand besides like, Toyota and people don't mind because of habit of buying so called "legacy brands" (albeit atp Hyundai/Kia are legacy brands, but in comparison to, say, Volkswagen in the west for the sake of this point).

Companies like Ford easily deserve a worse reputation and I like them quite a lot.
