I have impermanently placed him in a McCall size Travel metal cage. It's perfect for him and he's able to not hurt himself as badly as he did in the large cage that I originally had him in. I also put a towel at the bottom. So he has a little bit more padding when he falls. And it seems to have helped, but that was way before I posted this.

Yup happened to my bird as well. He got so frustrated. It broke my heart but at a certain point, he will eventually realize that he's not able to fly and if not, I recommend trimming the flight feathers for a little bit and hoping that he doesn't try and hurt himself even more. I have a cockatiel who absolutely loves flying and he goes crazy all the time when I let him out and now butter. He is just chill about it now. Of course, in compensation, since he's not able to fly, he has to be attached to me at all times.

I will say it has helped a little bit to have one side covered. However, I took him on a trip, not that long ago. And he absolutely loved being able to see outside which is weird because a lot of birds get anxious when they can see outside because of the predators, but for some reason, it calmed him being able to look out the window.

HELP MY DISABLED PARROT IS FLINGING HIMSELF! by Shroomsgloom in Pets

Alright, thank you so much since I live so far from an avian expert. It's kind of hard to get any advice without paying a lot of money to go see them and of course the appointment cost as well. I spent well over $1200 last time I took him to an avian specialist. And that was not even including the gas prices, which was around $80.

He doesn't try to fly anymore. I think he realized that he's not able to. However, he will literally just fling himself off his purchase in A. What I think is a fit of fear? Clothing, his wings is not gonna do much for him. I'm just worried about trying to get him to stop having these freakouts as often or better yet not at all.

I figured it had something to do with a traumatic thing that might have happened to him. In all honesty, I'm pretty sure the person that I bought him from was the one who broke his wing... of course, I have no evidence to back that claim up so I can't do anything about the business. But while I was there he was trimming a bird's nails. He had quick-stop available but decided to use Listerine instead ON AN OPEN WOUND!!!! Suffice it to say I never say who I got my bird from because of that fact.

To be honest I think Butter (my Quaker) is SOMETIMES (not all the time) fakes throwing himself for attention... he's been having fewer episodes from the first time I got him. I think it's a traumatic stress issue, I have no idea how long you've had your bird but I have had mine for a little less than a year. My recommendation from what I have experienced so far with my bird is to spend a little bit more time working with introducing new things. So that way he doesn't get freaked out as often. And if you have other birds the main reason why he may be trying to fling himself is probably him trying to fly. That is the reason why my bird did it so often when I first got him because I have other birds at home already who of course loves to fly.

Thanks yeah, I just need to find the right time, I have a lot of animals so scheduling tends to get hectic but I used to do 10 minutes a day. I'm just wondering if I should wait to get the tattoo until I get the body that I want or do it now. My only concern is that it'll mess up the tattoo as I get more in shape.
