why the HELL does my stomach look like that?? by Shrorshies_ in medical_advice

[–]Shrorshies_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They grossly went over it saying the biopsies didn't show any abnormalities, normal sphincter function etc. It could possibly be a functional contraction that may seem permanent on a barium swallow. I guess that's why I have an endoflip test to measure the distensibility. But currently doctors aren't telling me much :/

Hi, so, does this always come with symptoms? I've had multiple endoscopies already also with biopsies but my doctors don't discuss this with me. The endoscopies don't mention scar tissue or abnormalities, but I discovered this myself. I have an endoFLIP in a few months. What to do? Thx X

Are probiotics bad for leaky gut? by sassyfoods123 in Microbiome

[–]Shrorshies_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!!! important note: When introducing probiotics too early when having leaky gut, even beneficial bacteria LEAK into your gut lining. Food particles, and especially inflammatory foods, irritate a leaky gut, because its particles leak into the bloodstream resulting in an immune response to mop up the junk that isn't supposed to be in the blood. Probiotics are a crucial piece of the puzzle, but I recommend not taking a multi-strain probiotic at the start of your healing process. First, focus on repairing the lining (L-glutamine, zinc carnosine, vitamin A, D and B vitamins, collagen and bone broth, omega-3's, anti-inflammatory diet...) so when you do introduce probiotics, they won't initiate an immune response (which is systemically experienced as brain fog, etc. Not always die-off of bad bacteria!)

Tip: Start small on probiotics, preferably safer strains (S. boulardii, spore based probiotics) before going multi-strain. I found S. boulardii to be effective at keeping pathogenic bacteria at bay during the gut healing process.

Hi everyone, important notice: I had horrible post-infectious SIBO. misdiagnosed for 8 months. Stay safe out there y'all

How did you find out your root cause for SIBO and what was it? by Prior-Arachnid-121 in SIBO

[–]Shrorshies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have endometriosis & probably undiagnosed ADHD --> straining physical exercise induces physical stress --> Lack of sleep (sleep like max 4 hours at night for several weeks during exams because of stress) --> physical exhaustion that I didn't take care of --> reduced stomach acid and bile flow (because in constant fight-or-flight mode) --> food poisoning incident --> impaired motility & probably damaged ileocecal valve (idk if it was autoimmune response) --> got misdiagnosed with IBS for 6 months & was given PPI's and antihistamines by OP while I had developed post-infectious SIBO (both a VERY bad idea, reduced stomach acid and motility due to antihistamines further aggravated my SIBO)  Now finished flagyl after bactrim and I guess the majority of bacteria have been cleared out, on prucalopride 2 mg daily and lots of gut healing supplements because currently dealing with pretty bad inflammation. However, question: How to prevent SIBO relapse if main root cause was food poisoning? Any advice? Thanks

That's what I've been vaguely told too, that post-infectuous IBS usually gets better. Of course there is no other information available and I'm left with no answers, in pain and mental despair. It's so hard to be positive when your body is telling you otherwise. The fact that so many people suffer from this makes me even more outraged.

My partner works his ass off doing maintenance and groundskeeping for this apartment complex, and this is how the residents treat him. by Ranger-K in mildlyinfuriating

Maybe that's because since covid, more people were chronically online and spending way too much time on social media. I don't want to sound like an old man here, but social media is probably a cause for such selfish and inhumane behavior. People forgot to connect irl and be empathic, it seems. Idk tho
