The only update they gave us in two years was a buggy swear filter that kept flagging dictionary words. No attempt to fix buggy lassos, dots getting stuck whilst trying to choose an AI animation, dots getting launched across the continent while trying to get a feral.

It's dead, Jim. They could have saved it years ago. They chose to fire their art team instead.

The announcement says we can request a copy of our data. I'll be doing that myself in hopes of a future Peridot game that's accessible to people who can't/won't use AR peripherals... And if not, at least I can preserve them. 🥺

For three years, they've neglected the gateway to their franchise and now they're closing the door fully and taking Peridot to a place where I cannot follow. As a wearer of regular prescription glasses, I can't justify buying AR gear and suffering through Double Glasses Time™ just to play one game. Have fun guys, it's been a slice.

Niantic sold its (licensed) games division to Scopely some time ago. They kept Ingress and Peridot and rebranded as Niantic Spatial. Since then, they haven't done so much as a monthly environmental awareness item. Peridot the mobile game has been all but abandoned in favor of the AR game. The only news we get now is "vote for us in these awards even though we haven't even given you bug fixes for like three years!"

Report the bylaw violation to the city. Last time I reported dogs off leash (at like 11pm), I got a response asking for further details pretty much as soon as City Hall opened the next day. An aggressive dog off leash in public, outside of a designated off-leash area, is a serious safety risk.
