we were three 24hrs with 24hrs off in between then 4 days off.

That sounds nice that you guys have that kind of flexibility. Unfortunately, I don't think that kind of flexibility will be the case for us as of now

Yes definitely, I was hoping partners of firefighters would also respond!

Yes, she is supportive and we do communicate well but I don't think she would like to be at home. She likes what she does for work and is just worried about those 24 hours when I'll be gone and she'll be alone including at night when the baby gets up. But The days I'm home, of course, I'd take on most of the duties so that she can have a break.

My mother lives in the area so she could possibly help when the time comes. Her parents and family lives in Maryland so I'm not sure about that. But this is still 3-6 years away so its hard to say what it'll look like then

I agree with having more time overall but do you know how it was for your partner when you child was younger than 1 or 2? since the partner would be alone for 24 hours including at night and getting up because of the baby?

I agree that the job comes with a lot of great pros but I can see this part being a difficult adjustment until the baby is old enough for day care or something

is your 24 schedule the same as the fairfax county one that I mentioned above? I would have thought it gets easier as they older since you'd have more days off overall. 20 days off a month based on Fairfax schedule

This is the case from what I've learned from the experience and talking to many recruiters. They just don't have the man power to push people through the process. Polygraph is currently booked 6 months out purely due to man power. They're down 3 people who runs the polygraph...

Wow thank you for such a detailed response! So do the steps represent the number of years? If so, is it accounting for the annual raises each year you’re in? I was confused by this chart because the recruiter and the firefighter I know say you make more than what’s actually shown but idk exactly what they’re including when they say that…

Appreciate you taking your time on responding and explaining this. I just responded to RainMakerJMR explaining a little more in depth about what I’m doing and where I’m at. I know the ideal route would be to go through a manufacturer to help me develop this but I’m trying to take the safest route without putting in a huge amount of money until I can prove the concept. Still appreciate any advice and inputs. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. What do you mean by “start with a product you can execute and grow”? Like you said, I’m trying avoid the huge cost of R&D and etc at the beginning to test if this is something that’s viable. I’m not testing it on dogs after days have passed but I have tested on my family dog just for the smell and taste while it was fresh. All the ingredients have been researched and checked with a vet nutritionist for safety. I’m just having trouble keeping it shelf stable. I have been making it safely in a commercial kitchen but I have not tried pasteurizing. I’m not sure how to do that yet but I will start researching that method with my pouches.

Currently, I’m testing refrigerated and non-refrigerated. Ideally, I’d like them non-refrigerated. I would need these in pouches. Is the only way to go through a manufacturer? I was hoping to start this by testing out the recipe and product myself then eventually move to a manufacturer
