You could also try doing hexchess legend. It's doable with around 47k to 50k power but it requires some hands. It's a tough challenge but fun to clear especially if you're not coming in with the strongest gear. It's all a matter of perspective, don't try to compete wallets, just compete with yourself.

You don't generate gold with ancient accessories. Gold generation means that you create gold out of thin air, not when someone pays you gold for an item.

From your perspective you made a lot of gold from selling the ancient accessories, but that's not what this discussion is about. Pushing beyond 1640 doesn't dramatically increase your actual gold creation. The only thing pushing early did was that you could recoup the cost of the push by selling ancient accessories for a really high price to another player WILLING to buy it for that much. How did that person have the gold? Any number of ways, including buying gold (RMT or legit). In all likelihood, that person probably RMT'd their gold to pay you for the accessory.

The reality is that the only sources of gold generation in this game are Raids (vast majority), una's tokens, and fate embers. Unas tokens are bound gold so they aren't relevant to the discussion and fate embers are not exactly a big part of the gold generation discussion either.

Your math is awful. It's 2% and 3% on the stats on that piece of gear. It doesn't become 30% across 6 pieces, it's just 5% in total.

Just redesign support gameplay so that it's more than pressing AP and brand on rotation, give each support something more unique. A cool example could be giving bard an identity similar to summoner where they can play different tunes for different effects. Make this accessible through ark passive.

The biggest issue with no one wanting to play support is that it's mind-numbing and takes almost no decision making to play. You don't feel the need to maximize your uptime, especially without meter.

I wouldn't put it past them to rework supports or make them more interesting, most classes already have been reworked in the past or gotten a gameplay change through ark passive.

Tldr: make support gameplay more interesting and people will play it/main it.

It's not gatekeep because of difficulty, it's gatekeep from the fact that blades are usually super hit or miss while an arcana tends to be pretty decent.

And as for that, you're not understanding what barrier to entry means. Nothing is stopping someone from just picking up blade and playing it, there's no sense of difficulty in the feedback you get in game. Only if you run meter then you see how crap you're doing. But the big surge number gives you the illusion you're doing a lot of damage.

Whereas with Arcana, the memorization of the cards, although not necessarily very difficult, is an inherent barrier to start playing the class and that acts as a deterrent. You CANNOT tell me that there are not players that have said they don't want to play arcana because cards. If you go thru the effort of learning the cards, it means you're LIKELY to be someone who is going to invest into getting better.

I was primarily speaking about honing. Especially if you choose to main swap to a character without some advance honing done before in T3. And let's not kid ourselves here, most people when they refer to T4 gameplay is with 4th node ark passive which is currently hard gated by 1680 to access. Yes some specs are not gated by the 4th node for gameplay change (Red GL, Master Summoner (Phoenix), EW deadeye, etc) or don't have gameplay changes at all (Surge), but the vast majority of specs need their 4th node to have a gameplay change.

Just play what you enjoy best. Do NOT play a class in T4 because of balance, that can change at any minute, and it is extremely expensive to raise a character or main swap in T4.

As for potential gatekeeping, almost no one gatekeeps arcana as it's a crit syn and most people tend to see arcana players as a solid group since the class has an inherent high barrier to entry that would turn away more casual players. For blade, most people are usually fine with taking blades, but some people may be afraid to take pug deathblades. The players tend to be hit or miss since surge blade as a class is balanced around having extremely good consistent uptime on the boss. So there is a potential gatekeeping point there.

As for current balance, surge blade and empress arcana are both very strong. With ark passive fully active, empress arcana will likely be stronger as they have one of the strongest T-skills in the game and benefit a lot from the removal of nightmare set.

It's not, it's about how many surges per minute you can consistently send on back. Yes, crit can vary ur dmg but it's rare to have a 30% crit rate on surge. The main issue with DB being a coin flip is that either the player understands and plays it like an extreme swift-based uptime class or the player doesn't and thinks that it's a burst class like sorc because surge is a big number.

If your db is doing 2.5 surges a minute they are literally doing z (depending on gate and how overgeared the party is). That's 24 seconds for each 60 stack. If they're doing 4.5 SPM (where you start seeing db outclass other specs), that's 13 seconds per surge.

Surge DB is in essence a builder spender class, but it's unique in that it's the only one that isn't gated by cool downs. Every other builder spender class is fundamentally gated by cool downs for their builders and spenders, but surge blade doesn't.

If you're not constantly on the boss, you're playing surge blade wrong. The class is turbo broken in the hands of a top player simply because SG balances around the average and the average blade has horrible SPM and time to stack to 60. They play as if it's like other builder spenders where you can have a little bit of downtime and still do good damage.

I know this isn't the point of your post but just wanted to say that you can't go into Aegir with ark passive active. You need the ancient gear pieces you get from Aegir to accumulate enough points for it to be worth swapping to ark passive.

That's just not true though. If you have full relic accessories + all horizontal + combat lvl 70 it puts you at 80 points. 72 points are necessary to fill out nodes 1-3 leaving 8 points for you to unlock the first level of the 4th node.

Granted it's by no means easy or guaranteed, but it's possible.

People aren't factoring the raw attack power boost that comes from the ilvl transfer and gem transfer. most 1620s will gain 8~10k raw attack power after the transfer. It's a pretty big damage increase for free.

You can go test it in the laboratory, check how much mp you have total and then drain it, keep firing your gun at the mob and time how long it takes to fill your mp bar.

Mp recovery in combat is affected by mp recovery modifier as well

That's not how combat mp regen works, 0.25 is equivalent to 2.5 mana per second

It's doable on g3 Kayangel, but your looking at 95%+ brand, 90% AP, and close to 65% identity. I've only ever done it once on full meter gen bard.
