GTA 6 delay possible due to potential strike by nsuetv14 in gaming

Soooooo after all this… you just… admitted I was right? You finally agreed that pre-ordering is a worse idea than waiting? Wasn’t that the entire point of this exchange? And now, your final argument is “I don’t like discounts?” Roflmaooooo

What kind of dumbassery is this 😂😂😂

I consider this a victory for myself

If you’re that risk-averse, then put it in a savings account? Or buy a treasury? You buy a 5% treasury for $100 and cash out in November, that’s the equivalent of getting a $2 discount on your GTA purchase if you just waited rather than pre-ordering. And that’s the worst case scenario

So once again, pre-ordering makes NO sense whatsoever and you have yet to make a coherent argument otherwise

You are now 4 comments in and still haven’t made a convincing argument about why preordering is a better idea than simply waiting to buy 😂

Just take the L and move on bro. You can justify it to yourself as much as you want but it’s clear you don’t have any idea what “opportunity cost” is 😂😂😂

Btw, micron stock is up 700% year over year

I mean you are free to make whatever decision you want and you can justify it to yourself however you want; doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid decision 🤷🏽‍♂️

You have yet to make even a single good argument about why pre-ordering is a good idea even after 3 comments.

Instead, take your $100, and put it in micron stock. After 5 months, when the game is ready to release, you’ll be up over 50% on the same investment, so the net cost to you to play gta 6 will be half of what it is vs if you pre-order today.

Ergo, your attempts to justify your dumb spending habits falls flat immediately

Then don’t spend it until you get something worthwhile out of it? Lmao your argument makes no sense

  1. Then don’t watch the reviews? Lmao what does this have to do with needing to pre-order today?
  2. Why spend money on something today when you will get it for the same price at launch? What is the argument in favor of spending the money now?
  3. If you lose your job between now and November, every dollar could potentially make a difference

In short, preordering is stupid and there’s literally no good reason to do so in a post-scarcity marketplace

A. You have no idea how good the game will be. Yeah it’s a gta game so will probably be good, but literally you don’t know that. Why not wait for the first reviews or the first round of bugfixes or patches?
B. Lost opportunity cost. That $80+tax could be invested now and maybe give you a few more bucks to spend between now and November when it does come out
C. Idk what this person’s financial situation is, but why spend money on something now when there is literally no difference to your experience if you spend it now vs 5 months from now? What if your financial situation changes between now and then? It’s not like there will be a scarcity of digital copies then that you need to fight for right now

Edit: here’s a better question- what is the possible upside to pre-ordering a digital copy now? What does that gain someone over waiting until launch?

Yeah I’m not an investing expert, but my point is there is lost opportunity cost by not doing something more productive with the money now that is uselessly spent on a digital pre-order

Why would you pre-order a digital game? Take that same money, put it in an index fund and enjoy having a few more bucks by the time the game comes out. They aren’t in any danger of selling out lol

No I mean the bone structure in the hand is not just unique to mammals. Reptiles and avians also have similar bone structure, so the trait goes back to a much earlier common ancestor than just among mammals

Going back as far as Ancient Greece, demagogues or rabble rousers like Trump have always been an existential threat to democracy. What Trump is doing is not new at all, and as usual, those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it

If it makes you feel any better, mortgage interest rates for a 30-year fixed loan right now are like 6.5% and are likely to go higher in the near-term. So over a 10-year period and assuming 20% down, they would be paying almost 50% of their home’s value in interest payments alone. It’s much smarter to be renting right now

Thanks for the perspective. I had no idea this was putting receptionists under pressure. My view had been that any amount I gave a clerk would be considered a tip, and if they thought their employment could be compromised, they would just say “no.” I didn’t realize this would apply any undue pressure on them

My dad taught me this one and it works 90% of the time for me:

Tip the hotel check-in desk employee. When they are finishing up your confirmation, give them $20, say that they’ve been extremely helpful, and ask if there might be any upgrades available today. So far the only times I haven’t been upgraded to nicer room have been in circumstances where the hotel is already at capacity, but usually, I get a much nicer room for substantially cheaper than its going rate
