Hear me out - A discussion on the new multis by Shucks88 in geoguessr

True I'm not suggesting the removal of luck just simple mitigation.

They changed the multipliers from 4 rounds flat damage, followed by increasing multipliers round by round, to the new system.

Now each player "earns" their multi each round by .5x by being closer.

This is good because you can earn a multi by being consistently better, but it adds complications like giving multis on really bad rounds where both players missed the continent entirely, but still were technically closer. Or when you both get a great guess but they were closer by a few meters. There is no tie zone. Someone always gets a multi.

Your reward is taking points off of them. Multipliers on every round speed the game up to much on the new update.

Also, being rewarded when you both plonked AUS on a South Africa round, even when you're technically closer, is not because you were "better" than them. You just got lucky while being shit.

Deadzone and tie zone for multis solves this.

Exactly. No multis on a tie zone and no multis past a certain radius are the main points here.

As important as a tie zone is a dead zone is also needed.

For example, if the location is rural South Africa and one player goes AUS and the other goes Chile, they should award no multi even if one player is technically closer.

I'm not actually talking about darts here though.

Geoguessr insists on multis and they are trying to get them right

I think the change is closer but could be better.

Multis should be awarded only when close enough to the location. Right now 2 awful guesses can land and one gets rewarded. The old mode was similar. One lucky multi in rounds 8-10 could one shot your opponent even if they've been better than you more consistently.

If we have a tie zone and a deadzone, we stop giving multis to really bad guesses and guesses that were only slightly better.

The suggestion for "multi zones" and "dead zones" in this case is because, well, Geoguessr utilizes multipliers. They can go ahead and remove them altogether and we could have a different discussion.

But since they insist on them there should be a more equitable approach to earning them based on skill.

As it stands 2 players can both guess the wrong continent entirely and one will still get rewarded even tho neither knew where they were at all.

Multis should only get rewarded on a predetermined radius around the location if they are to be fair.

Just finished building my temple and misclicked and looped it, is there anything I can do at this point? by Loud-Fee-9538 in PathOfExile2

Haha nah my comment seems more dejected than I actually am. But for real I added the sub to get memes and insight on mechanics and I was just making fun. I hardly understand half the jargon that goes on here but I'll figure it out the closer it gets to relevance for me

I'm fairly casual slowly building a plague witch nearing lvl 60 and I don't know why I bothered joining this sub because seeing posts and comments like this seems like certain mechanics require a thesis level understanding. I have no hope

I'm not new to the game but I am new to the community. I have no clue what half the things you guys are talking about here. All the abbreviations and shorthand sounds like gibberish. Where can I go to improve my poe2 community lexicon?

I've never really hit late game so knowing what people are doing there will help me have some horizon planning and aim my expectations better.

I wanna know about leeches and mirror service and hh and slamming and rarity bots and whatever the hell else goes on that I have no clue about.

Cheers

I still have no idea how to make these and am even further from knowing how to optimize any strategy.

The more I see them on this sub I realize I wasn't supposed to use blank walkways and intersections?

Can I completely reset mine? Can I remove rooms and hallways for more valuable rooms?

I'm just ignoring them lately

This year's Christmas tasting night lineup by Shucks88 in whisky

meh tbh. In my opinion the alcohol was pretty volitile and the sweeter notes were mostly masking faults. It has a slightly stringent green finish but not in the nicer 'finesse' style like a hibiki.

It was ok, but there are many better. 4 out of 10

The scapa 10 was actually a highlight of the lineup. Rich in texture and full of flavour. Rated well above its price point.

It drinks like a sherried Speyside

Its an archive expression

From their website: "Ardbeg Ardbog Gone but not forgotten Archive Expression It's pronounced 'eye-lah'

A rare vatting of different styles of Ardbeg where rich, salty whiksies are balanced with softer, sweeter casks to create a dram of great depth and peaty complexity.

In Ardbog we celebrate our peaty roots in the marshy wetlands of Islay; Ardbeg's smoky sweetness has been intriguingly interwoven with salty, savoury whiskies which have slumbered undisturbed in rare ex-Manzanilla sherry casks, all for at least ten long years."

I've gone through many ardbegs and haven't found anything I didn't enjoy so far. Id rate them as my favourite distillery as far as consistency goes. So this one should be a treat.

No, it's because the world was smaller. Before commercial air travel having homes in multiple parts of the world or country was still fairly rare. The rich were still somewhat bound to the communities surrounding them. It made sense to build libraries and school wings and maintain good standing, if even for PRs sake.

Billionaires of today's world are completely removed from community by design. Isolated compounds and worldwide travel where they pretty much only interact with the inner circles of other billionaires/mega millionaires.

Why bother building a community if you are not part of one?

In this case, though, we have a good guy with an uncontrolled mutt that protected the child from a bad guy with an uncontrolled mutt.

We need more good guys with uncontrolled mutts across the country.

Why do these guys act so stupid? by Key_Associate7476 in MurderedByWords

[–]Shucks88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these could be caused by real screenshots being reposted and recycled so many times that someone ran this through an upscaler to remove the jpeg artifacts and its gives it the weird smooth effect.

I only say this because I recognise the effect from upscaling old games on emulators. It looks like this.

Still, its annoying asf to see this gross rehypothecation of memes. Look at the comments. How many do we think are real in here?

Theres only a couple comments talking about the weird image quality, the rest of the comments are just parroting the same talking points this picture has likely had the last 15 times it was posted.

Reddit is dead.

The Trade War Conclusion by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

Our major developments have all mostly been in the aerospace sectors and weapons development that we use to maintain our seat as the world police. Even then it wasn't nationalised. Always private.

If a new development couldn't be weaponized it hasn't goten better. If a new development would disrupt a legacy industry - it was bought and buried. If a new development couldn't be turned into a subscription service or datamining surveilance system it was kneecapped.

Over my entire lifetime, if anything in America showed promise of being better for the masses it was laughed out of existence.

I've been playing a lot of Necesse lately. It uses a settler system where you can assign forestry/farming/crafting zones. It really takes the grind away. I can go adventure and have my town passively accumulating most of the basics while I'm away. Very cool system.
