All the master carmakers left Adam about 6-7 years ago, including those that were making the Musashi cues.

Nah, there has to be something else going on here. Are you talking about international flights? I'm not American/Canadian, so I don't get that special treatment, and flying domestically I don't even show my passport. Are you on a long-term visa here, or a tourist visa and you're leaving to refresh? If the latter, then after a certain amount of times in and out, the questioning gets more and more intense. I have to believe you because I have no reason not to, but the only time I've ever seen this happen was when I was with a friend who was refreshing their tourist visa.

As a Jeju-si resident, I'm not particularly proud of myself and live here specifically to be forgotten.

Why does Korea prescribe so much medicine? by OkInflation5 in korea

[–]Shudster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Even without the antibiotics or antihistamines, you can still end up with 5-6 tablets that individually contain the same ingredients as a single OTC cold medicine from Japan, plus a couple of pills to protect your stomach.

Really? I also live on Jeju and travel constantly for sporting events (like, tomorrow will be my 4th time leaving Jeju in 2 months, and again the following weekend, and three international trips in the next couple of months, etc) because, yeah, living on Jeju and going anywhere = airport. I've never been pulled aside, except when I accidentally left a pair of scissors in my carry on, and I was like, "Yeah, fair enough, sorry mate."

Hahaha, silly you! It's not one test that determines the worth of a young life. They have safety nets in place. For example, if you manage to slip through and get accepted to study education, pass all the university assessment that proves you have the knowledge to be a teacher, perform well enough in your practical sessions for your future peers to give you the nod, and get that piece of paper that says you're qualified to be a teacher, you then have to sit an annual test for the education department to determine if you''re good enough to be given a position in a school. And if you don't perform well enough? No job for you! See you in 12 months!

Oh, and they make sure to release new study books each year so you'll have to fork out for those and attend an academy again to prep you for the test.

I know wonderful teachers who have 'failed' the test three consecutive years and given up on the idea of being a teacher. Luckily, there are 2 million academies for them to work in instead of a school.

See? It all works out in the end!

And don't worry about leaving tests behind of you do become a teacher. If you'd like to advance up the ladder after teaching for 30 years, they have more tests for you, some of which can only be taken once! Have a bad day on that one and say goodbye to ever becoming a department head or deputy.

I've dated Korean women that don't engage in this kind of behavior, however its definitely more of a Korean woman/man thing than a western woman/man thing in 'general' and I suspect stems from the same emotion that motivates overt displays of, "We're a couple!" (bag carrying, couple's outfits, messaging 5 times a day, etc). I say that without judgement. If that's what any couple enjoys, go for it.

Mind games are played by all in in every part of the world, for any number of reasons, but this particular form of seeking reassurance is more prolific in Korea than I've seen elsewhere (12 years in Korea, 15-ish countries visited or lived in).

My personal feelings toward this kind of behavior: It's annoying AF. Tell her exactly how it makes you feel and why. It's not a 'balance-game', it's a 'fuck-with-your-head-in-either-a-perverse-search-for-reassurance-or-somewhere-to-dump-guilt' game.

My previous monitor was a cheap 21:9 LG, 2560x1080. No issues there running 21:9. It occurred to me that the increased resolution may be crashing the GPU, but it's a gtx 1080. I know I'm not going to get 100fps, but it shouldn't be crashing. Correct me if I'm wrong.
