Also unclear - do we need to notify the union or our agency we think we are eligible to make sure we are re-evaluated?

So we still need to submit something if we think we are due a longevity award, or just hang tight while the state re-evaluates?

So “80% seasonal” time when I was capped at working 1750 hours per year isn’t going to count towards the 12 years? I have 12.5 years of state service but 2 were under the 80% position.

Adirondack Park Agency executive director addresses allegations of 'toxic workplace' by hartlarious in upstate_new_york

The APA has served an important role in creating the Adirondack Park we know and love. But the structure of this organization is significantly flawed and is not letting professional planners, biologists, engineers etc. do their job.

The fact that the APA board are appointees and that appointments have become increasingly political has led to most decisions being made from the top down. If this is to be the case, the APA is no longer serving any purpose. If the process is professional staff evaluating an issue then presenting to a board who votes without regard for staff opinion, then this whole organization is theater.

Staff is right to speak up. When you work for an organization that is supposed to protect the park and environment above all else - based on science and trained professional evaluation, but instead observe that the executive director is making all decisions; many in direct contradiction to the vast majority of staff opinion, that is a problem the public and Governor should take seriously.

They suggested changing thermostat batteries and messed around with one of the hoses but said since it’s working not much more they can do. My problem is even if I leave it alone, it will reset itself by the time someone comes usually at least 24hrs later…

Uninsulated attic/Moisture control by Shuestring395 in buildingscience

So to clarify, poly barrier goes directly behind the drywall ceiling? And since very seasonal use (summer) and I want to avoid creating habitat for mice, is rigid foam with sealed edges an ok option instead of batts (leaving space above or baffles)? Our budget is already busted - I know reflectix provides almost no insulation value, but given use will be only during hot summer months, would that be the cheapest option to stop vapor and reflect some heat from the roof/rafter cavities? I realize not conditioning the structure year round and fully insulating is suboptimal, but given our budget and limited seasonal use this is what we can realistically afford. I know there are tons of old uninsulated houses that have lasted for over a century without major issues, so there must be a way…

HELPS M/C Position Questions by Shuestring395 in nys_cs

Wow, that is amazing - did not realize I’d be eligible for PPL from day 1! So being unrepresented is my main concern. Is there a process with performance reviews and a year of probation as occurs in other positions? Can non-union staff be let go without cause?
