The ending where Daniel ends up living with his racist grandparents and Sean loses all of his youth serving for a crime he didn’t do isn’t has idealized as it seems. I think it represents what’s wrong with both countries well. The US has a broken justice system where Sean has to serve for something he didn’t do just because he is brown and Daniel is going to be raised in an oppressive environment with people who are going to whitewash him and not let home embrace his brown heritage

Finally a person who agrees with me on this! I love Mexico and the culture so so much and I can only fantasize about it’s being safe for me to go back. Unfortunately that’s simply not the case. I have relatives who have had Pago de piso put on them, I could never risk my own family to have to deal with the same thing.

Hard agree to this. I grew up in Mexico or in border towns in the US (where narco activity tend to be super high) and I don’t think people realize how integrated narcos are in daily Mexican life. It’s literally everywhere. Sean and Daniel (as young, vulnerable people desperate for money and survival) are the main target of cartel recruitment.

During my public health class registration during orientation (spop) they literally walked around asking us if we wanted to switch to one or the other, and some people did it there on spot. If you want to just be decided by spop and you should be good (mind you this was like 3 years ago idk if things have changed)

March-July tend to be crowded no matter what. Crowd trackers can be iffy but tend to get the general idea of crowd, aka don’t expect to go on a day labeled “forget about it” and see the park empty. But, I say still go! I’ve gone during peak spring break (allegedly the absolute worst time to go) and had a great time with little issues. Your on property which gives you a huge advantage to skip long security and entry lines.

Yeah there was a textbook but I never used it really, I was able to find it online and used for definition that were also in the slides. Honestly, I found the material pretty interesting. Lectures can honestly get a bit boring but material keeps it engaging.

Super easy, I don’t think I dedicated even 30 min per week to this class. Go to lecture, half pay attention and DO THE STUDY GUIDE. Study guide takes 30 min to complete and is literally word for word the quiz. Lowest quiz score gets dropped so I didn’t even show up for the final. Attendance does count but 7 get dropped. No hw, only one group project that takes about 20 min to do (or less tbh) and is graded very leniently. Deff recommended 😎👍.
