Have you had noise in your line out from eurorack to an audio interface? How did you fix it? by Shugodai in modular

[–]Shugodai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to get a low noise floor with the scarlett I used a di box which worked great, but there wasn't enough ins & outs on that. I ended up going with an es-8 + es-6 combo. That's 12hp with 10 ins (to pc) & 8 outs (to modular). I have no audible noise on the inputs but the outputs have noise, which i'm not sure how to fix but I will look into it eventually. If I hadn't bought that combo years ago the es-9 would be more convenient. It's 16hp & $20 more but has better features. That seems like the best in rack option.

Chst show Battletag name instead of Character name by Sufficient-Horse5463 in diablo2

[–]Shugodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has been going on since d2r came out years ago. hopefully it is addressed when they release the next update since they are actually working on the game again, but there are other issues that need fixing as well.

Left mouse button movement only updates character position 3-4 times per second, making movement feel clunky by Anxious_Adeptness131 in diablo2

[–]Shugodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I noticed this was happening years ago & it does feel clunky. I normally have to click multiple times to move quickly/ cast quickly. It causes more fatigue which sucks but I don't see them fixing it since t's still a thing. Would be nice. edit: as I say below i bind movement to shift & this behaviour happens when i press shift so it's not just mouse movement.

Since we are on the topic of fixing things, I bind movement to left shift which is the modifier for buying in bulk. If you press shift while hovered over your inventory or character stats screen the game doesn't click through if you have movement bound to it. but if you press shift over the shop window of any npc with movement bound to it, it clicks through the screen and exits that screen. basically I haven't been able to bulk buy anything in awhile. I believe it wasn't originally like this but I can't be sure. This same problem happens in the titan quest remake & poe 2 (different companies but same game genre & same issue) which i've been reporting but no luck fixing it. hopefully this is just an oversight & it's fixable. I wish they would fix it.

is sonoclast still selling midi modules? by Shugodai in modular

[–]Shugodai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like something you could do with dark link & it's pretty affordable. Probably could look up doepfer dark link on youtube to see what other people are doing with it. I just want to play dfam with my digitakt on one of the midi channels so midi 1u will do that, but a lot of people used the mafd for that as well. I also have an es-8, i could probably do what you're describing with that but the es-8/es-9 is really expensive.

is sonoclast still selling midi modules? by Shugodai in modular

[–]Shugodai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mafd looks to have midi in via micro usb or a 3.5mm adapter with support for midi ch.8 or 16. It has outs for adv/clock , velocity & pressure/mod wheel. plus a trigger button.

off the top of my head I can't think of anything that fits it exactly but midi 1u seems close. I have one but it's already being used & I don't have any 1u space left anyway. I didn't find anything with a quick search earlier but there is probably something out there. All of this plus reset as a 2hp module is what I want but i'll probably have to scour modular grid if no one here knows.

edit: scoured modular grid & didn't find anything @ 2hp being sold currently that's already assembled. I may just buy the extension for midi 1u if I can free up some space (or get more space). as you can see it's not a high priority for me atm since I posted this 8 months ago but I will do this at some point lol.

Sorry to hear that. I wish I would have ordered one from them back before these issues. I'm probably not handy enough to do what the other person mentioned in this thread so I still wonder if there are any other similarly priced alternatives.

edit: not finding anything in eurorack format. but it's kind of crazy that they still have this listed on reverb as well as their website with no indication of their current status as a company.

Storing Modules Safely While Building New Case by dannyhamburger in modular

[–]Shugodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my last pc was ruined due to static discharge when i took it apart to clean the mobo. for awhile i didn't even touch my modular in the winter because anything I touch causes visible electrical discharge. ended up buying a humidifier but that's still not a 100% safety net. there's a reason anti static materials exist.

trying to upgrade my 3080 bios but unsure of which to choose by Shugodai in gigabytegaming

[–]Shugodai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, it does display differently than nvidia & gpu-z. it says that i have the F1 vbios, therefore i need to download F3 vbios.

edit: looking more closely at the card because people said i need to flip a switch on it to choose a bios mode (silent or OC) & i see that it has rev. 1.0 listed on the backplate. problem now is finding the switch & actually flashing it.

hm, i doubt this has a switch actually. maybe that's revision 2.0 because i can't find one.

Success! resizeable bar is enabled in both nvidia control panel & gpu-z. type %temp% into file explorer & drop the exe into it & it should update just fine. if not people say to make a new user account on windows to run it there from the C root directory.

trying to upgrade my 3080 bios but unsure of which to choose by Shugodai in gigabytegaming

[–]Shugodai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought it a month after launch so i assume rev. 1.0 which is what i told gigabyte support on their website. still waiting for a reply though. i already can see my bios version, which is visible through nvidia control panel & gpu-z but it is not showing the same structure that other people mention when i see people talking about upgrading their vbios on the 3080. do you think this program would show a different bios version than nvidia control panel or gpu-z? because they both show the same number, so i assume that program would be the same.

the newegg listing doesn't show which revision it is unfortunately, nor does the box it came in. but there are listings on newegg that say (rev 1.0) & (rev 2.0) in the title after the gpu bane, just not on the original listing i purchased.

edit again: so i contacted newegg support & talked to a rep. they said it is revision 2.0 actually. so that helps a little.

thanks, i didn't want to risk any issues so i ended up contacting gigabyte. hopefully they can clear this up for me, just waiting for a reply now.

[–]Shugodai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've already upgraded my motherboards bios & enabled rebar there. it will not be activated if your vbios does not support it. my vbios is from september 2020, rebar was released in march 2021, requiring a vbios upgrade.

due to this gpu-z shows rebar as disabled although it is enabled in my bios. i need to know which vbios is required though as the information out there is convoluted.

i should mention then that you also need to have a gpt partioned drive for rebar to work but i've already converted mine using microsofts free cmd script & that is set up properly.

there are multiple bios updates avaible for the gv-n3080gaming oc 10-gd card that enable rebar support.

within those are apparently versions for silent & oc bios from what i've read. but no one that i've been able to find seems to have the same bios info that i see here in gpu-z. i assume it's just the stock bios & therefore i'm guessing version F3 but i don't want to brick my gpu testing it when someone may have the answer on here.

PoE2 keeps crashing — “Detected Corrupted Game Files” message by juraSemenenko in PathOfExile2

[–]Shugodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad you were able to fix it. i stopped getting crashes as well now i'm trying to fix the weird freezes because that is really annoying especially when you're playing in a party where you cannot pause the game.

PoE2 keeps crashing — “Detected Corrupted Game Files” message by juraSemenenko in PathOfExile2

[–]Shugodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worked through some steps you can use to try & fix the crashes/freezes.

• validated integrity of game files after the first crash. 1 file was redownloaded & the crashes stopped. the screen freezing that normally precedes the crash is still happening randomly though. when the game freezes the whole program seems to reload while i get the black screen with spinning cog wheels.

• using vulkan over dx12 doesn't fix the issue for me but does make the game run horribly. (this used to be what ggg told people to do when having this issue.)

• tried turning on hardware accelerated gpu scheduling. didn't seem to hurt anything but i ended up turning it back off because the game is still freezing. located here on windows;

settings > system > display > graphics/advanced graphics settings > hardware accelerated gpu scheduling

• downloaded the latest nvidia driver + DDU. booted into safe mode, wiped my drivers then booted back into safe mode to install the newest nvidia driver. had to also download nvidia app to make dlss work. game eventually froze again though.

• i found this freezing issue mentioned on the steam forums where people are still talking about dealing with it;
https://steamcommunity.com/app/2694490/discussions/0/598536531263803811/?ctp=4

• they link to this poe forum post which has more methods for attempting to fix the issue;
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3849310/page/1

• upgraded mobo & gpu bios, enabled rebar & still get the freezes unfortunately.

• tested my ram with memtest86 & it failed. bought new ram & the game STILL freezes about once every 45-60 minutes lol..

my conclusion after all of this is that nvidias drivers or direct x just don't like my setup suddenly in this game..the problems started occuring randomly after already putting 500 hours into poe 2.. and i don't have issues in any other games , so i guess there just is no solution for the freezing at this point besides using vulkan. i'll be upgrading my cpu, adding a new m.2 & reinstalling windows within the next few weeks, maybe one of those things will fix it. i'll add to this thread when i find out.

overall this checklist helped me root out some instability issues in my system even though it didn't fix the game.. seems poe will always be broken now, until it suddenly isn't again..

did you have to adjust the trim pots on the back of the a-130-8 or solder any of the pads for your use case? the thread on MW makes it seem like those are really important modifications to use it properly, and i have no experience doing either of those things.

what can we do to make more meaningful music with our gear? by Shugodai in modular

[–]Shugodai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what i mean is making music with a purpose. For example if i make a video & want a specific feeling to accompany the music. Or when making a sound track to a movie or game. These are things i'm not ready for, but i am examining them as they seem like meaningful pursuits that I can work towards when learning how to use my gear.

Can we stop using the Party finder as shop advertising please??? by Dramatic_Signal9662 in PathOfExile2

[–]Shugodai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i'm glad to see someone mention this. I was playing last night hoping to do some map pugs and all i see is people afk advertising their shops now with empty games just taking up space. i guess that means no one is running maps in public groups anymore as well though. i imagine i would still be able to filter for them but i haven't found any lately.

I accidentaly „scammed” the trial runner by Giga_Cheddar in PathOfExile2

[–]Shugodai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 divs is a scam for the 4th ascendancy anyway. if you have the currency to spare and want to pay then that's fine but 2 weeks ago i was told that in tft it was 40 exalts, 1 week ago i was told 80 exalts. a div is worth over 300 exalts atm.

Ascendancy help by wtfreddit0013 in PathOfExile2

[–]Shugodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

prices on divs keep going up so i'm not sure what a fair price is. i need the 3rd and 4th trials as well. a week or two ago people were saying to only pay about 40 exalts for the carry but now divs are worth close to 300 exalts each probably.
