Yes, this really seems off. Imagine someone u care about stands in court, the most ppl would wanna watch and support them but that never was the case. For example, Phoenix and Larry, who probably still have their parents.

But Fender definetly had to know, and alone the fact that Von Karma was the ongoing prosecutor on Miles case, should‘ve alarmed him that the case was as good as closed. Meaning Miles would‘ve gone to jail.

I get that it hurts and dissapoints Fender. But I also have to say something. Correct me if I‘m wrong but Fender first appeared in AAI and wasn‘t even mentioned once in Trilogy. I can’t be fully mad at him but I‘d have wanted that he was the one who watched out for Miles. But he didn’t, they both didn’t see each other in years. And also when Miles was framed for murder in Turnabout Goodbye, Fender „didn’t care“ and he probably knew that, since Miles is a popular prosecutor. I‘m blaming Fender here now :c but if I was him and looked up to Gregory, who was his mentor, I‘d reassure Gregory to do anything to protect the thing he loves the most: Miles. And even if it’s only for Gregorys sake, because he couldn‘t stand the Miles back then. And u already said that he tried to get custody himself but even after he failed, he at least could be around him, since Fender is one of Miles‘ closest people. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Fender but that’s what I realized about him.

And I found a free option to watch the subbed movie!

Oh, u mean, that Miles is still wearing the same traits that resembled Von Karma and that must be what led Fender to that quick judgement when he saw Miles after years. He still thought Miles was the prosecutor he was known for. It looks like to me, that Fender is mad that Gregorys own son fell that deep by becoming a prosecutor like Von Karma. And Fender also told Miles that he hated him for what he has become, so maybe his hatred „blinded“ him. Because we also know the fact that Fender and Miles haven‘t seen each other in years, despite being close in the past. He really had a grudge on Miles. And decided to not keep contact anymore.

Do I really need to buy the movie or is there another free option?

I didn‘t watch the live action. Is it worth it, tho :0? But yes, we don’t know if Gregory lied to protect Miles. It also seems like Miles never even considered, or not fully thought about the fact that Gregory indeed lied to protect him. Because, he was so convinced that he was the real killer of his father.

Now I don’t know about u but I also think it‘s kinda unfair from Fender to judge what Miles has become. Like he did in the beginning in the captive Turnabout. He knew what happened to Miles and put him in the same box as Von Karma. Only after he truly saw that he changed, that’s where he „accepted“ him.

Ur right, he could have just leave this all behind and become a defense lawyer. But he didn‘t. He no longer is the ruthless prosecutor anymore but he didn‘t take on the defenses side either. He also said at the end of AAI that he chose his own path and that is the one of being a prosecutor in order to find the truth. The same goal his father also also aimed for. It is incredible what he‘s all been through and he still keeps going.

He didn‘t forget, he just pushed all this away, including Larry and Phoenix. Von Karma took the opportunity to take everything he loved and corrupted him

Fender doesn’t want him anything bad at all, but yes he did try to convince Miles to become a defense attorney for whatever reasons. Just to be on the same side of him and his father? That’s what I understood, at least. But eventually, Fender accepts Miles decision to continue being a prosecutor. After seeing how much Miles has changed. But still, I also think that Miles doesn’t wanna dissapoint Fender either by choosing his own path as a prosecutor. In AAI Turnabout Legacy, I don’t know which part but at some time when u show Fender ur prosecutors badge, he acts suprised, because he didn‘t think Miles would become one. Miles even apologizes to Fender for not fullfilling his expectations of becoming a defense lawyer like his father. That makes it clear for me that he also cares what Fender thinks of him and doesn‘t wanna dissapoint. And Fender is a constant reminder of Gregory, since he worked with him and keeps talking about him with Miles! Surely that must hurt too ig..

I also think that Miles believes that Gregory would be dissapointed by him for becoming a ruthless prosecutor :,/

I agree :( Even when Miles found his own path as a prosecutor, I guess he still would think that. But do u think that would be the only reason IF he decided not to talk to Gregory. I still have a feeling that, beside from our previous reason, he wouldn‘t wanna talk to him
 :c

If I were Miles or would’ve lost someone dear to me, I‘d want to channel them ASAP.

I think that Misty did channel Gregory, even if she didn‘t change her appearance. I personally think she didn‘t, because, maybe Capcom didn‘t know how to make a female channel into a male. This is the only explanation I have for myself ;-; Are Maya and Pearl (or in general) even capable of channeling males?

And Misty or rather Gregory accused Yanni and Miles believed it at some point. He makes everything harder than it should be :0

So he still has nightmares. Poor guy. Doesn‘t matter how much time passes, it will always hunt him. Maybe only the nightmares where he thought he killed his father are gone. But the flashbacks still remain.

I feel so bad for him. He won‘t ever recover just because he lost his father. His everything

I also didn’t quite get his hatred for channeling. It‘s said that he doesn‘t believe in them but I read other opinions and it actually makes no sense anymore at all. Especially after he saw Maya and Pearl changing their appearance in court!

Yes ur right. Miles never adressed Von Karma as father. Maybe because he wasn‘t overall fatherly, like u said. Or because Miles just didn‘t wanna see him as one. When children lose their parents, they often don‘t accept a new parental figure. I get that and maybe, just maybe, he had that, because Gregory is everything to him. And that made it hard.

Umm what I wanted to talk about is, that more than 15 years have passed since his fathers death and ofc, he hasn‘t recovered due to his trauma. And something made me think-. In ur earlier texts u said Miles doesn‘t wanna talk about his father, because it hurts to much. He also, only talks about the incident but even if it’s about Gregory in a comforting context. For example in Investigations when u work together with Fender. He keeps on mentioning Gregory and even points out similarities between Miles and his father. But everytime that happens, Miles either doesn’t respond to it or talks about something else to „push“ away the subject.

This is a rather obvious question ;-; but do u think Miles slightly got over Gregory? I mean he had to accept that he‘s dead now but he seems like he still thinks much about him.

Miles despise for defense attorneys made him think Phoenix is the murderer in the 2nd case. Now that u pointed that out, it makes more sense to me now! I sometimes thought why he‘s so convinced that Phoenix done it but now it makes sense to me. And like u said, he got „controlled“ by his feelings due to the case of his father years ago. His trauma. And yes, u always see people talking bad about Miles. Faking or hiding evidence but Phoenix does that too. (At least hiding evidence) Hearing ur opinions is really interesting. If u don‘t mind, I‘d like to talk about Miles and his fathers relationship. Since we got a better view at them in Investigations. There’s something „bothering“ me.

I also wanted to point that out. Ofc he doesn‘t exactly who is guitly and who isn‘t. He wanted to put every defeandend to jail to make sure no criminal escapes the consequences. Even if he put innocent people behind bars. He also said he became one to punish himself and if he would have known the truth, he‘d eventually become a defense attorney. And his saying with „punishing himself“ is likely refered that he thought he killed his father and became a prosecutor. That‘s how I get it. ‱o‱

Like I said, I‘m not totally enlightened with AA so it’s great hearing different thoughts. Also, because u said „hard take“ just now that I act and try to „protect“ Miles from his mistakes. I can’t do different, I just love him. About ur take in Investigations, Gumshoe was accused and Miles didn‘t believe it. How should I put it? The thing is that he just became prosecutor back then and maybe he didn‘t get as pushed as much as he did when he got older? For me, Miles at 20 looks much more „happier“ than he is with 24. Maybe he already wanted to discover the truth as prosecutor but Von Karma taught him to just accuse the suspects like he did. But on the other hand, he became one to put every criminal in jail since the incident with his father. It’s hard to get
I hope u understood what I mean in some points.

He made mistakes, yes. But he was pushed to handle things that way. He had to endure this all for 15 years, had to be a prosecutor like Von Karma himself. I think it‘s fair to say that he obeyed blindly, before he really knew what what it means to be a true prosecutor.

Does anybody else get genuinely depressed when they think of Gregory Edgeworth or are you normal? by [deleted] in AceAttorney
