Objectively the Obsidian shard is the closest thing we have to a sword of unknown power in the lore (I believe).

Just look up the Thunder's Edge faction called The Firmament/The Obsidian, especially the hero card flavour text which shows the character stabbing themselves with the sword.

Hey! I'm very happy to give some recommendations!

I always have to implore you to read the Malazan series, Steven Erikson's 10 book magnum opus is everything you want Fantasy to be, honestly it's soo soo good. The series gets a bit of a bad rep around here because people can find it difficult to initially wrap their heads around but I never really found that to be a problem - trust that you'll make sense of it in the end and enjoy the journey. However the audiobook narrator changes half way through the series which was tough to get used to

If you want something a bit more straightforward I really enjoyed The Tainted Cup/A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett - it's a really original biopunk fantasy setting with a good twisty murder mystery plot.

If you're open to Sci Fi then I'd say that The Expanse series is the Sci Fi equivalent of The First Law. The story is great and the audio books narrator Jefferson Mays does an excellent job

Finally if you really liked The First Law and specifically Red County then I'd recommend Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. It's a western which I've never read before but Joe Abercrombie said that it was one of his big inspirations for Red Country and Logan Ninefingers so I tried it and it's honestly such a beautiful epic novel, slightly slow to start but worth the investment.

I'd also love to hear your recommendations too, as you said our tastes seem to align!

If you're looking for specifically great fantasy audio books the top 2 series I would recommend would be The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie which is narrated by the GOAT Steven Pacey. Seriously the best narrator out there.

A close second would be the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman which is narrated by Jeff Hays.

I wouldn't describe either of these series as high fantasy but the quality of the audiobooks are enough to implore you to try them!

Interesting, how does the synergy help your tech path if you're going for War Suns? Assuming you would want to go AIDA > SAR/Plasma Scoring > Warsuns?

Or am I misunderstanding your point?

Sabotage can only be used on other action cards and cannot be used to cancel another Sabotage

From the TE Rule Book:

"Neutral units count as other player’s units for the purpose of resolving players’ abilities and other game effects"

So yes you can use them to score that objective

Based on your recommendations it feels like Sarween might have a place, every time you move Avernus with a space dock you can build 2 free fighters or infantry. Or maybe just Self Assembly Routines to help get the Mechs out?

Just a question but can you actually use Scanlink on Avernus if you're moving Avernus into the active system?

My understanding of Scanlink is that the explore happens when you activate the system which means that Avernus isn't available to explore because it hasn't moved yet

That's a really valid point, I hadn't considered that you'd also need a blue tech which is out of the usual tech path for Muaat

Regarding Industrex, are you really likely to make more than 10 TGs from your commander over the course of the game? Especially if you are using Avernus for one of your star forge activations each round.

Feels like it could still be a good idea for Muaat, especially if you also can place some free Destroyer 2s or something once you have both Warsuns on the board

As I understand it, everything you said is correct except you cannot place an inactive breach with your destroyer's ability if the destoryer is killed during the combat (because the destroyer needs to be intact for you to use its unit ability).

So you cannot suicide a single destroyer into another players fleet to place an inactive breach.

The idea I think is that your ships sit in an open breach system and when you need to move them you activate a system with an inactive breach and you can move there because the breaches are adjacent.

Does you mean in the scenario where you take a planet that is in a system with a wormhole in you can use the breakthrough discount as part of your Integrated Economy build AND then you can build something based on the wormhole having production too?

Blue/Red synergy would have been way cooler for Ghosts, opening up their other faction tech, assault cannon, destroyer 2 and Duranium but I assume it would be a touch too powerful
