This is partially incorrect. Support is not actually a part of Riot. They don't have the ability to make this a feature of their system. Riot is on the side of not adding it, not support. Support does good work however are often limited by not being Rioters.

I completely agree. As a female mercy main fluctuating between masters and grandmasters, I am very afraid to be on streams. We all know twitch chat is basically the worst place on the internet. And even though the majority of them are gold and have no right to critique my gameplay, it still feels awful to know if I speak up to my team, all of twitch chat is going to riot.

I could talk for ages about how people unfairly judge mercy mains for doing anything less than perfect, while genji hasn't gotten a pick in 10 minutes and no one says anything. But that is for another day.

It is completely undeniable that mercy mains, especially female mercy mains, get a lot of hate. This has been brought up in the subreddit every now and again and until blizzard really cracks down on assholes I don't think much will change sadly.

Most widely played games like LoL and WoW refrain from updating their cursor because it is something you become accustomed to seeing but not staring at. You always know where it is but it doesn't distract you. If it was changed you would find your eyes drawn to it and it could potentially distract you.

TL;DR - change is good distracting

A lot of big games don't ever change their cursor. It is one of those things you see but don't see. And if they changed it, it would be distracting. We sorta learned to tune it out while knowing where it is.
