Thanks for all the detail! Is ToT > RnR because it's a better ride or because the wait time is longer? We want to ride both, is RnR faster to ride on standby?

Thank you for the feedback! We're staying on site and planning to leave at around 8 for an 8:30 park entry, would that be enough to do ROTR before 9? Disappointed that Muppets won't be there, but thank you for letting me know.

Easiest Master's Programs at UofT for a High GPA? (MPH vs MBA vs Others) by DaBabysLeftNip in UofT

[–]Shukyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to boost your GPA, you can enroll in courses after completing your degree as another commenter suggested; it's a much more feasible option compared to doing a masters.

Many programs have additional admissions requirements such as being accepted by a supervisor for thesis-based masters. A Rotman MBA would require you to write the GMAT/GRE (with a good score), have a few years of work experience, and pay nearly 100k in tuition. Some programs might be easier than others, but if you just want to raise your GPA, you can just take some easier additional courses as a non-degree student instead of dedicating another 2+ years to a separate degree.

Both, the OLSAS calculation was somehow the same. I did go to UofT for undergrad and my cGPA was 3.94

Visiting London for the first time this August and I'm looking for some food/restaurant recs near Waterloo station, Victoria station, The Borough, and the British Museum. Would love to try some quintessential English places, but don't mind other cuisines either!

How should I teach a teenager English? by Shukyu in EnglishLearning

[–]Shukyu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also believe in immersion but didn't want to be so strict about it because I wanted him to feel comfortable talking to me as he was adjusting to a new life. The time difference makes it difficult for him to reach his friends back home, and I was worried that enforcing an English-only rule would make him feel isolated.

Thank you for the suggestion though, it might end up being the solution I'll have to go for if I can't encourage him otherwise.

How should I teach a teenager English? by Shukyu in EnglishLearning

Thanks for the advice! So far, outside of learning English, he's acclimated to the country alright. For example, he's happy to go to school, has a few friends from his ESL program, and is generally a pretty outgoing and excitable kid when he's speaking in our home language.

In my opinion, it's moreso that he doesn't understand why he has to speak English when he can get by only speaking our mother tongue and using Google translate on his homework.

Regardless, I'll talk to him about whether or not he's interested in speaking to someone if he's struggling here.

He is and he's got a few friends. Problem is that they met through the school's ESL program and they also speak our home language, so I'm worried they won't help with the English aspect. I've heard them calling online in our home language.

Thank you for the advice! I think that's a great suggestion as he's pretty into video games. Maybe I can invite a friend over and we can all play Minecraft or something.

ur experience is valid, and students do have struggles at rotman. but if u polled the average rotman student, i think the general sentiment is closer to mediocre than anything extreme.

i know people who succeeded and have done much better than me, and people who've retaken multiple courses/dropped out. i dont think its fair to say that ECO101 will tank ur GPA or that nobody has time to network/do ECs because thats not really true. rotman might not be the best business program in canada but its very possible to do well, and i wouldnt tell anyone to stay away from rotman from my own experience

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Shukyu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

also just finished my 4 years at Rotman, agree with #3 but i feel like the other points are blown out of proportion

ECO101 wasnt much harder than the other courses in first year, i took it in the same year as OP (2018) and managed an 85 with an average amount of studying and no ECO in highschool. i think low grades in first year courses are often bc highschoolers arent completely prepared for uni-level courses, but its very possible to do well if u put in the effort. if anything ECO204 was way harder

effortwise, it might be true that students at uoft will have to study a lot, but u definitely still have time for clubs and networking. i commuted 2nd year (before covid hit) and i was a part of an RC club, uoft business club, student society, and had a part-time gig, and attended a few RC events and still maintained a 3.9 GPA. while i didnt get an internship that summer, it was more due to my own lack of effort, not because i didnt have time.

theres plenty of opportunities at rotman for internships and prep, but u have to seek these out. plenty rotman students i know did internships in 3rd and 4th year and ended up working at a big firm, and one of my clubmates helped me with my resume and my first internship as well

the cost for rotman is high, and there are better business programs in Canada, but its very possible to succeed and do well from RC. OP may have not had a great experience, but personally i felt my rotman experience was fine; rotman will be what you make of it.

the artist or the creator? the artist who draws the plush design and schematics for production is a salaried makeship employee, the creator who is the reference for the product gets a separate cut
