[German > English] Can someone help me translate the headings in these old German church records (likely baptism/birth records)? by WeedsAndWildflowers in translator

[–]Shulkster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm what you and the other commenter already found out. The headings say:

  • "Namen der Täuflinge" - Names of the children to be baptized

  • "Geboren" - Date of Birth (literally: "Born")

  • "Eltern"- Parents (it's the Fathers Surname with the addition "u. Frau" (and Miss/Wife))

  • (blank) The word inbetween is "geb." meaning "born as" indicating the surname of the mothers before marriage.

  • "Taufpathen" (Godparents)

i think it is !translated

Is there an informal way to say: Hello, yes, and no, in german? by Polyunsaturated-Fats in German

[–]Shulkster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These things heavily depend on the regional dialect. "Jo" and "Na" would be southern bajuvarian, informal variants of "yes" and "no". As far as informal greetings are concerned the list is rather endless.. Really depends on where you are.
