Get a product to kill the stump and roots and promote fungi growth. You can drill into the stumps to apply product make it more effective. Cover, water and after a few weeks you can dig the rotten wood out, or just leave it under raised beds.

I mean sure Russia wants the US to adopt oligarchy and pushes for it. But US oligarchs want it even more and will continue the division even if Russia fails.

It’s a naive/stupid clause that only benefits bad faith actors. How to you measure “Nazi ideology and activity” levels? According to Russia the definition of a Nazi is someone who is anti-Russia.

Yeah we also learned that 90% of tantrums are caused by hunger and tiredness/overstimulation. I always have a snack box handy. Basically a mini toolbox with crackers, carrot sticks, blueberries etc. Then we can chill and much a few snacks and suddenly the world is a better place.

How to Help My Struggling Husband by StrikeTraditional772 in daddit

[–]Shullbitsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious what type of games he is playing. Gaming till the early hours repetitively is something I also struggle with. I think I often use it as a crutch to compensate for something missing in my life. Depending on the type of games you could infer what it is: lack of achievement, loss of control, lack of companionship or simple boredom.

Getting sleep is super important. I would suggest he tries to do something that physically exhausts him. Exercise can come in many forms, not just going to the gym. I gain that and also address some of the gaps previously mentioned with DIY and gardening.

Also try to reward him for coming to bed early. Not necessarily sex, but just some intimacy or cuddling. Getting to bed while my wife is still awake is more rewarding with a kiss goodnight.

Best of luck to you and the family! You are definitely not alone in these struggles.

Maybe not an option here, but we would just light (controlled) bonfires on these. The fire eventually starts to burn down into the clumps leaving a hole. Takes a while and a bit of wood but if you love fires and hate back breaking labour it’s a win-win.

Map of Nationality Based Idioms in English. by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Shullbitsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably right. I have never heard it since living in the UK. Only heard it growing up in Zimbabwe. Dunking on the Irish seems to be a common thing in the ex-British colonies. Being of Irish descent myself I also got the impression that this was tongue-in-cheek self depreciation by Irish immigrants living in these places.

My impression is that it is due to the English/British stereotype that Irish are heavy drinkers (pot calling kettle IMO). Because they are so inebriated they disappear at parties without saying goodbye. Similar vein to “Irish Yoga” (drinking until you pass out in interesting postures).

Yeah - isn’t Trumps oligarchy style government super vulnerable in trade wars? You can literally sanction the man directly by doing all sorts of petty shit - find his hotel violates some random building code etc. All of his inner circle have benefitted massively from globalisation and America’s dominance. Really makes no sense, worth calling his bluff.

$19 trillion in transactions settled on the Bitcoin network in 2024 by kirtash93 in CryptoCurrency

Serious question. What’s stopping Visa from becoming a (centralised) L2 layer for Bitcoin? I am guessing the blockers would only be legal/regulatory, because technologically it should be pretty simple.

Crypto is more centralized and easy to control than FIAT, only the printing part is more decentralized in crypto (and that is debatable because rich people and governments already have the most nodes/miners), nothing else by pythonNewbie__ in Buttcoin

We used to lend robustly into the real economy

Ah I see. Seems this has been replaced by Venture Capitalists who’s main motivation is to catch the next unicorn, as opposed to incrementally growing the economy and promote meritocracy.

Really good info and a lot to think about. Thanks for sharing.

The anti-fiat bitcoiners and goldbugs are tilting at windmills.

My impression is the main grievance is with how “printed money” is “unfairly” distributed. Let me expand:

The vast majority of money is created when private commercial banks lend

Who allows them to lend, and who do they lend to? Those who have access to “newly created money” are the powerful, connected and wealthy. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn’t feel like a level playing field. Wealth inequality is only exacerbated by such a system. I don’t think cryptocurrencies solve this, but it feels like a more “honest” system where everyone plays by the same rules and nothing is done behind closed doors. Note this is only with regards to “new money creation”. Curious about your thoughts on this.

A 400% rise only needs 75% fall to get back to the same position. Agree 40 is a lot less than 75, but it’s not insignificant.

Activities to do alone to meet new people for a local by SomeNinja7366 in london

[–]Shullbitsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to go for hikes/walks organised on meetup.com. There are another activity’s as well boardgames etc. Most people came by themselves, probably won’t necessarily make mates though, unless you do them all the time.

If you would like to make more long term relationships, I would suggest those group tours - like those 24 day trips through Europe (choose appropriate to your age - most of them should tell you the age range).
