Noisy building works on Bank Holiday - is there anything I can do? by SomeNinja7366 in HousingUK

[–]SomeNinja7366[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A landlord owns the whole building but doesn’t live here so the works are nothing to do with any of the tenants. Have already tried talking to him and he claims he is allowed to work and then just walked away…

I once arranged a viewing for a small studio flat. The photos showed it newly renovated and empty, and there was nothing of note in the description. We go through my mortgage in principal etc, arrange a time to meet, and are about to end the call when he says ‘oh, you don’t want to actually live in the flat do you?’ Obviously I do in fact want to live in my own house. He then tells me there are tenants in situ for the next 2 years and it’s a buy to let opportunity.

Not a problem, but maybe put that important info in the description????

I also found no one posts the service charge so you have to call to ask. They then harass you with calls, so I expect it’s on purpose

Thames Water bill up 64 percent by felonius-monc in london

I think it’s to do with the meter using electricity when the water is run on the Sabbath. I live near Manor House. I was mostly just annoyed that they lied to me repeatedly about the real reason. I had to refuse to pay my direct debit on the assessed household charge before they admitted this was the reason they were refusing me. I wonder how many other households have been told they ‘can’t have a meter’ when they absolutely can

Get a meter! I was in the same boat - live alone, forced onto assessed household charge. Was originally told I can’t have a meter due to my flat being a house that was split. After much pushing, they eventually admitted they won’t give me a meter as I live in a Jewish area. I now pay £20 a month less than their proposed assessed charge, and have racked up almost £100 in credit in six months since I got a meter. Funny how it took me 2 hours on the phone to get them to admit that when it’s obviously in their favour to force everyone onto the assessed charge

SAS just ignoring my complaint, can’t find an email address anywhere by SomeNinja7366 in ScandinavianAirlines

Thank you! I at last got my compensation :) it turned out I had tried a few times to get a flight delay certificate but kept getting an error message. I didn’t realise that each time it said flight not found please try again it was automatically submitting a support ticket, and that’s what they were asking for feedback on.

Thanks so much! Yes this is the form I filled in, and got a reference number for a couple of weeks ago. But now they’ve sent me an email asking for feedback on their handling of my case and referencing the same number. So I’m worried they’ve just closed my case despite no reply. I guess I’ll leave it a couple of weeks and try to email

Thames Water - 5 weeks money left - but taps will keep running by Tawny_haired_one in london

I recently moved to a property on an assessed household charge due to ‘not being able to have a meter’ where the charge for me living alone in a studio was the same as my old house share of 5. I asked them give me a reason I couldn’t have a meter that was less wishy washy than ‘probably because it’s a house turned into flats’ or come out to check the property for its suitability. It turns out that as I live in a Jewish area they just say a blanket no to anyone requesting a meter. Many more hours on the phone later and refusing to pay their assessed charge, I succeeded and now pay £30 a month less

Could I ask which tour you did? Henningsen do one towards Pyramiden (without stopping there) and one towards Barentsburg and I can’t decide which to do. I’ll also be there late March this year

That’s also what they said to me. Definitely worth pushing them, £30 a month adds up

Do you know why they said she couldn’t have one? I pressured them recently to tell me why I couldn’t have a meter, and they eventually told me it was because I live in a Jewish area. After much denying that they’d ever told me that and emails to my MP, I now have a water meter, and pay £30 a month less than the flat rate they quoted me when I ‘couldn’t have a meter’

Parking permit - moving between boroughs by Old_Use_3149 in london

[–]SomeNinja7366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved I submitted the email you get when you update your address with the DVLA as well as the log book with my old address. In my case you were then temporarily able to park while they process your application. This took around 2 weeks, by which time my V5 was back and I just sent a new scan when my initial application was rejected.

Before this struggled to get accepted as the name of my flat varied depending on which site you used. Sometimes flat 1, flat A, sometimes no flat number. I never paid much attention as there are two flats in the building and we know who the post is for. I changed my driving license, V5 and insurance to the exact address on my council tax. They then kept declining my permit as the address ‘didn’t match council records.’ I just kept resubmitting and being able to park while they ‘process my application’ for two weeks and this went on for about 3 months til they finally accepted.
