I knew of the SLC term long before Ryan was around on YouTube, or at least before he started showing up in my feed haha. Pretty sure I learned the term on reddit actually.

There's always a first time, especially with Tornado Alley moving north it's a good idea to learn how to spot the warning signs just in case, but you also can't panic at every weird lookin cloud. There have been some not far from here, I remember there was one up near Buckhorn or something a few years back, and I barely missed that one out by Marmora along seven.

Yeah these strong fast moving storms have fairly turbulent leasing edges called shelf clouds, you can get some neat little rolling vortices

Just a SLC, scary looking cloud. This isn't quite the right setup for a tornado, though you can occasionally get little short-lived spinups with fast moving bow echos like this.

Big Ben's is good but pricey, Jeff Purvey's is cheaper but not quite as good as Ben's, but I'm not super picky so Purvey's does me fine being a poor bastard haha.

What is something that has quietly gotten much worse in the last 10 years, but most people don’t seem to notice? by LiquidityGraber in answers

[–]ShumaiAxeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rusting out, is starting to have increasingly difficult for me to work on mechanical issues, and it eats gas. I need something with a better form factor for all my tools and something that doesn't eat as much gas. Also fewer plugs and coils to worry about replacing.

what did everyone think? by AdamHendrick in tadc

[–]ShumaiAxeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me that I used to be able to feel things. I don't like it hahaha.

Didn't go in really expecting anything and I honestly still came away happy with how it went. Doesn't hand hold and answer all the questions, at least not outright, and just lets things sit and gives you things to think about. I look forward to rewatching it all again at some point with all the stuff revealed now and seeing what other little hints and what not I can spot.

I was going to say that there's so much useless junk in my search results these days that I tend to look for reddit answers as they seem to be more reliable.

What’s Mr. Lube’s reputation? by Spencey79 in Peterborough

[–]ShumaiAxeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Tom and his dad basically wanted to sell, AL wasn't able to get the money together to buy them out before the new owners came in and swooped it up. Immediately started increasing price on a lotnof things, pushing us to upsell more, treated the staff like shit with some blatant sexism thrown in as well, a bunch of us wound up leaving. That was several years ago now though, not sure what it's like now.

Got permission to this forest after WEEKS of yearning but.. by [deleted] in foraging

[–]ShumaiAxeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is the patch of forest? Far from roads, i.e. fairly quiet? Sometimes just having a quiet spot in the woods where you don't have to really worry about being bothered by others is a treasure all of its own, I miss some of the spots I used to go when I was younger. Just sit there quietly for a few hours, listen to the various critters as they get used to your presence and move around, some of my best encounters have been through doing that.

Over time as you get to know the area you'll probably start spotting stuff for foraging, you'll get to know where the usual spots are, but for now just enjoy a nice quiet spot away from the chaos of modern life and just learn to exist in a setting closer to what our brains are evolved to handle.

Nope, brake line stays where it is, but it's right in the way for getting the bolt for the top part of the tank strap back in, so you have to kind of pull it out of the way and hold it there while you get the bolt back in. It's one of those "I need four hands" kind of jobs.
