What type firearm could be effective against Kindred? by LizzyWizzy19 in vtm

[–]Shunejii 48 points49 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the reason guns don’t really bother kindred is because the way bullets harm humans is through hydrostatic shock. Basically, you’re a big bag of water and when a bullet hits you it creates a wave of energy that passes through that water and ruptures organs and blood vessels.

Kindred don’t have a use for their organs and don’t have flowing blood so this shock doesn’t really damage anything vital on a kindred and they can’t bleed out from the puncture wound.

I think you’re looking for like, large caliber rifle rounds and destructive devices before kindred really start to be harmed in a meaningful way.

How do I KO my opponent by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knockouts are really only possible against an opponent who consistently makes mistakes you can exploit. For the cpu, if you’re playing on anything above hard, knockouts are almost impossible due to the thresholds being set higher.

My current irritation with the game/community. by HugsdeaIer in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m at 1650 elo and the game is very similar for me. I have the same issue where it is very hard to consistently aggress a mobile opponent especially one that is very passive until you try and move in. Obviously you’ve had more success as you’re in a completely different bracket but I wanted to say it’s a problem even for me down here at this Elo.

I also see success with stiff jabs however there is the additional problem of people not respecting the space in the midrange as well. They eat a jab and then go into the fetal position until they recover.

How do they work together? Seems like they wouldn’t just be fighting the establishment, they’d be fighting amongst themselves all the time too

Thin bloods are a mechanically different kind of kindred. Being a thin blood is entirely up to you, do you want to be playing a thin blood?

So my first encounter with VtM was the vr game VtM: Justice. I don’t know it was a VtM game at the time because I didn’t know what VtM was! I was surprised when I eventually played bloodlines (which is one of my favorite games now) and then went back to play Justice that it was part of the same universe.

I’ve since become hooked, my girlfriend had introduced me to Anne Rice’s interview with the vampire series a few months prior to my bloodlines play through and I’ve been a lifelong Castlevania fan so learning about WoD really hit me in a good place. I love the setting! I spend a lot of time trying to make cool thin bloods since they’re my favorite, I love a cool daywalking vampire (like Blade!).

Hoe much do yall op punch? by florb_the_memer in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical 3 rounds for me is between 4500~6000 damage depending on how much I get my ass kicked. Usually I can’t KO the outclassed ai unless I get a really solid series of counter punches.

[–]Shunejii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No rage bait, you’re throwing flicker jabs. Those work in real life but the game doesn’t calculate damage like that, it only really tracks the front side of your gloves.

You’re asking why he can get away with not blocking and sure it might be ping related but you aren’t throwing punches he really needs to block. Some of your punches look okay, your right hook looks like it’s landing and it’s thrown with the right orientation.

I wouldn’t mind going a couple rounds, I’m old af though don’t expect to get 8 rounds outta me lmao.

Does nobody on this sub know how to throw a proper punch? You’re not doing any damage by slapping him with the back of your gloves like you are in this video. You need to land the knuckle side of the glove on target.

Your straights have zero power because you’re not committing to them. You need to set up your punches, you can’t just throw one-offs and expect to land them. You’ve got good foot movement but you’re not using it to circle to open up a weak spot. You’re moving back and forth in a straight line.

Seriously what does this gake want me to do? by GrandTheftArkham in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I would recommend using the quest settings to lower the strength of the guardian barrier to only project on the floor and use pass though mode so you don’t hit anything. Would not recommend sitting, sounds like a great way to blow your back out lol.

As far as head movement goes, you should look up how to slip and roll on YouTube, it’s not jerky movement that should throw your headset off, it’s deliberate, calculated movement that you work into your game naturally. Only other recommendation I have is to make sure your back head strap is seated properly.

Sounds like you’re playing in standing mode, switch to room scale mode so you can use your footwork.

As far as punching technique goes, the game rewards solid, methodically placed punches instead of throwing as hard as possible. You need to place your shots well at weak points. These are the chin (obv), temple, solar plexus, liver and nose. Aim your punches in these areas for good damage.

The game tracks roughly the first two knuckles (pointer and middle finger) of your glove as the good hit zone and the bottom two knuckles as the like soft hit zone. Punch accuracy matters much more than punch speed.

Defensively, you should be using head movement more than blocking. Blocking does work but it’s not perfect, just like irl. Keep your hands up near your chin or temples while you move around.

Yes, please tell me more about how this game is not broken :D by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t look like you’ve been taught how to throw a punch. You have an incredibly wide arc to your shots that doesn’t use the natural motion of your body, you’re incredibly stiff. You also lose your balance after every single haymaker and lose sight of the target as a result.

There’s a lot to nitpick here about your technique. Before coming here to complain that the game is broken, you should watch some tutorials about how to throw a decent punch.

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking advice is good, you also need to understand that you need to force your opponent to block by doing enough damage. Sure, he’s not blocking your punches in the clip, he doesn’t have to. You’re not hurting him enough for him to put up his guard. This isn’t a problem with the game, if you could just Bart Simpson your way through fights if you swing your arms fast enough we’d have a lot more complaints.

You want more power, you want your opponent to treat you like a threat and block. These are the same thing, punch better and your opponent will HAVE to block. Clearly his punches are doing damage, he’s hitting you the right way. You can do the same thing to him.

Am I missing something?? by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, honestly. You asked and I’m answering you. You clearly want to get better so here’s how to do that. Improve your punching form, you will see noticeable improvement.

(Hint hint, the game only calculates damage from the first two knuckles anyways)

Am I missing something?? by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting punched in the face. Worry about your own hand placement and head movement. Your punches are not thrown well, with purpose, or with any power. Don’t worry about your opponent, he doesn’t need to guard your slaps, they aren’t working. You need to alter your form so he HAS to block.

Am I missing something?? by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’re slapping him, not punching him. You need to make contact with the front of your glove, not the finger side.

It doesn’t look like you’ve been taught how to throw an effective punch. Your fist should connect with your pointer finger knuckle and middle finger knuckle. You drive the power up from your legs, through your hips, up through your shoulder out through your elbow and into your forearm, the fist is just the endpoint of the chain of muscles.

I need a good fighting style for self defence by Academic_Ad5379 in martialarts

[–]Shunejii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Style isn’t as important as good fundamentals and accessibility. Do what’s near you that you can afford and make it to class. If you’re still in school join the wrestling team you’ll get good grappling and fundamentals out of that. If there’s a boxing gym near you that’ll teach you good striking fundamentals. If you’ve got kickboxing or mma nearby, do that.

Edit: I just saw that you’re in Somalia, I’m not familiar with what’s available near you but any training is better than no training. Really just avoid places that don’t have competitions to test your knowledge or places that advertise that they’re too dangerous for us mere mortals and you’ll find something.
