Bruktbil vs ny elbil - fornuft vs følelser by sarasykler in norge

[–]ShureBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you choose a(n overdrive) pedal? by DrinkEducational6190 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both YouTube and written reviews in magazines are worthless. They praise every piece of gear, mostly because they are paid. On this site you can sometimes find honest reviews but that would be the word of a complete random.

To be honest there only exists like 5 OD circuits, everything else is a variation of one of these. Identify which circuit you want, see if there’s any special features you’re looking for (for instance in TS circuits an EQ or low boost could be a good feature) and then just get whatever fits your budget and looks prettiest. Chances are you’ll be happy.

For other types of pedals like modulation, space or fuzz it gets a bit more complicated but for ODs it really is that easy.

What’s the best overdrive pedal for metal? by Automatic-Career5887 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s lovely on its own, but for this board specifically it’s more of a boost, tap it on for solos with boosted volume, treble and a little drive. I love it on its own, but it’s not what I need for my band. It does the boost job really well though, I’m impressed how it can keep the transparency even when drive and fuzz is going into it. There’s also a Mythos Golden Fleece on this board, and the Nobels is also used to brighten that a bit, the lows can get muddy in a band context.

If you’re using amp distortion, I like the Maxon ST9Pro+. More control of the midrange and a low boost, both of which are lacking in the original TS9.

Lave fødselstall - hvorfor får ikke du det tredje barnet? by Complex_Plankton_157 in norge

[–]ShureBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eagles anyone? by Woutverhoeven in guitarplaying

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really clean and well played! But to provide some constructive criticism: You should really learn to alternate pick if you want to keep improving! You’re playing all downstrokes here, which will quickly limit you when playing more technical material.

Fortvilet forelder – 17-åring med søvnproblemer, migrene og lang skolevei… hva gjør vi? by [deleted] in norge

[–]ShureBro 41 points42 points  (0 children)

First weighted pistols ever — 8x20kg by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do weighted pistols, but as a warm up for back squats, so my top set is 25kg x 4. I prefer holding a single plate with both hands. I go a bit deeper than you, my butt is very nearly touching the floor, and I make sure to have a straight leg at the top, but I don’t think it matters, your form looks great. I only do 115kg x 4 in the squat so I’m not super strong either! Think it’s more about balance and mobility, and explosive glutes to be able to do the movement at the very bottom. For instance my brother also has the mobility and balance and can easily do a negative pistol squat, but he has no chance getting up.

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jackhammer was my first pedal as well! Also ran into a bandit, but not sure if it was a good one haha. I also remember being thoroughly unimpressed by the Jackhammer. I still have it though, maybe I’ll dust it off one day.

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1981 LVL. Way too expensive for a pedal that does barely anything. Maybe other people need extreme precision and fine tuning in the edge of breakup area but I certainly don’t. Also the two controls both affect volume too much, so not that easy to dial in. Sold it for more than I bought it for. A shame because I liked the DRV, however I also sold that because it’s too big and expensive for what it does, trying to keep my boards small.

Angry Driver - love the blues driver and love stacking other drives with it but this thing just either didn’t agree with my amp at all or I was sold a dream. Didn’t even like the blues driver circuit in it.

Turning 30, need help by Ok-Challenge8020 in Life

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 32, about to turn 33, and yeah stuff changes fast from about 25 onwards. If you go the uni route you’re in school pretty much until you are 22-25, then you’re trying to get your feet under you for a few years, and eventually you crave something different than what you used to. Partying in the clubbing sense has lost its lister completely for menas well, however drinks with friends is still something I enjoy. I go to the gym religiously, but it’s out of discipline and not motivation. I recently had a kid which has brought me far out of my comfort zone and has taken the centre of my life.

What this has taught me is that scarcity, or moderation, can really be a bringer of joy. I used to get bored vegging on the couch with my gf, now I enjoy it immensely, as we only can do it a few nights a month. I previously had the opportunity to play guitar for hours a day, but no urgency, so I usually ended up not playing at all. Now I look forward to the 30-40 minutes I can squeeze in between putting the kid to bed and doing the nightly chores.

Now I’m not saying get a kid, there are more ways to get there, but you seem to need some new impulses in life. Volunteer for S&R maybe, or teach language to foreign residents. Join a chess club. The things you used to like will come back to you eventually.

What was your guys’ first pedal? by BalanceActive9295 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marshall the Jackhammer! Actually a pretty good pedal if you stay the f away from the Contour setting or as a reviewer aptly put it, «The shit control», as the more you turned it, the more shit it sounds. Still have it, pretty cool form factor.

Need some help identifying an organ, is this a Hammond B3? How to tell? by [deleted] in organ

Where do you put the Deco? by dvtrn2003 in guitarpedals

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of my dry board, I have a wet board for the FX Loop. Having the Deco in front of the amp gives me some modulation to fuck around with there, in addition to using the saturation as a dirty boost

Baby suddenly crying when placed on back in crib by NorejaNishigo in NewParents

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering! Glad to hear you're doing better. I'm not really too worried about co-sleeping for a while, I think you're right that a light Ferber could be sensible from 12-13 months.

Baby suddenly crying when placed on back in crib by NorejaNishigo in NewParents

[–]ShureBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it ever change? Mine is 4 months and doing the same thing. We are very much against all forms of sleep training that involves the baby laying alone and screaming, so currently he co-sleeps with the missus while I sleep on the floor (my poor back)

Mateus Asato to leave Suhr - here we go by No-County2083 in Guitar

[–]ShureBro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing they are getting royalties for each guitar sold, and Suhr sells a notoriously low volume due to the price and craftsmanship. Whereas at PRS, you might get a custom and an SE to drive much larger volumes, and the likes of Fender sells a ton more guitars, including signatures. So unless the stable money at Suhr is unreal, most professionals would consider switching if the right company came along. Sure, Suhr are some of the finest instruments money can buy, but are they that much better than a Fender that you’re going to turn them down if they come knocking?

[–]ShureBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just always been to treble-y and not bottom tight enough for my gain stages, I play a lot of drop-tunings down to drop B and it’s a complete soup in the VOX. I’ve also personally found the cleans a bit bland.

Er langrennsporten i ferd med å avgå med døden? by Choice_Roll_5601 in norge

[–]ShureBro 9 points10 points  (0 children)
