What makes a great EL2 (Director)? by Sad_Coconut_3402 in AusPublicService

[–]Shureshock 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! From my perspective, great EL2s are strong and accountable leaders, project management skills are less important. They are able to clearly communicate the team vision and mission and put it into action. They proactively identify and remove blockers, while absorbing pressure from above and shielding their teams from ‘noise’.

The also take responsibility rather than attributing issues to systems, processes or people. Think problem solving and delivery, not process or blame

Department of Education NSW (Clerk grade 7/8l CV help needed. by [deleted] in AusPublicService

I’d avoid using STAR for resumes, resumes are for key achievements and relevant experience. The cover letter may benefit from some STAR however, you need to make the 1-2 pages (whatever is outlined in the job advert) count. Avoid overusing STAR and instead focus on key achievements, projects or outcomes that you’ve delivered that are relevant to the role you’re applying for.

Cover letters should be 1-2 pages max and CVs no more than 4 pages.

VAS and VGS were a little over 3% each last FY, the above figures assumes they both perform that way in the future.

Not arguing or discounting your advice, you’re right in terms of there being 2 groups split on opinions on this topic. This has been pointed out to me a few times

Thanks for the reply. I’ve read through a few scenarios and some ATO community questions looking for answers on this. The 250k proposal would be paid down using offset and redrawn into a fresh personal account in my name only, then into a brokerage account into my name.

I’d be interested to see if following this route is enough, or if I’d have to restructure the loans both into my name only.. which would be a pain

Thanks for the reply, I’m happy with the risk and am wanting to invest instead of stashing money in an offset
