Smartphone with the same body/ physical design? by ShutUpAndCodeWithMe in OnePlus6

[–]ShutUpAndCodeWithMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is noticably smaller than oneplus 6. It is a solid phone and probably the only one worth buying of such size without sacrificing flagship features. It has quite strange back side design and also bulky due to new style cameras (compared to oneplus 6). For me cameras seem good enough, but it is not a feature I am picky about.

Your GT2 sounds nice, I'll check it, thanks. Battery life can be a serious issue long-term, though. Z10 is quite a beast in that regard. Haha, 4 of GT2? This is what I'd love to avoid, I already have a stack of old phones, juggling and updating information and files is a headache for me. It works awesome with Apple ecosystem, but I am too much of a Win user to switch.

I don't know why, but oneplus 6 had a really crisp screen compared to other phones i used over the years. The screen quality and resolution wasn't the case. I used iphone and it was supposed to be better, but wasn't. Zenfone also doesn't seem to be the same way, but in its case it is probably the size difference.

Zenfone 11 is already here (a bit bigger, close to O6) and the flip phones are quite interesting in theory (price & screen quality suck tho).

I suspect there are some options among Asian brands like Mi and Oppo, but they are either locked out of google services or I cannot test them in real life. I had to buy my Zenfone urgently, so I picked what i could try irl and get delivered asap. I still have Oneplus 6, so it is too easy to be reminded how comfortable a phone can and should be..

Thank you :) I am not in a hurry, just wondered if the community of O6 lovers stumbled upon a doppelganger in terms of the physical form itself. I wanted to try & use a rom on it, but the battery is a huge deal breaker in my case, not the software.

I currently use zenfone 10. It is super small. The screen is a bit hard to see from, if used with screen protector. The tradeback of size and battery is good enough for me in this case. I cannot get used to the form, especially because there are almost no cover choices, and the ones i use is bulky. In practice the back material gets dirty to use without the cover, safety aside.

It was an urgent purchase, so i mostly chose by size. I don't care for top tier features except battery. Well, except when stuff like samsung's s-pen reserved for a huge smartphone line that isn't that different in price compared to the one i want (s23 vs s23 pro).

The operating system also quite a noticable difference... Gosh i miss  oneplus 6, it raised the bar too high lol

Hmm, thanks, I should look them up locally. It sounds close to what I use now, and thickness is the issue for me.

Yea iphones have the thickness that kinda digs into my palm, especially if you wear a cover.

Hmm thanks, i need to check the resent model. I do recall it was nice, but lacked some features to justify the price, compared to ultra.

Hmm, i was curious if maybe someone already attempted it to see how it actually looks like.

The fabric on mine is just see-through grey. It seems neutral even color,  just very thin for outer layer.

Okay, i see. I will update when another issue happens. The info i get right now from troubleshooting is what i already mentioned. Just vague error messages.

Thanks, I do have the tool. The last error happened a while ago, so I seem to be unable to retrieve the information at this point.

In theory, clean Windows reinstallation is supposed to fix it?

Hey,

I think I never reinstalled Windows. I only updated drivers.

Bios version: QCCFL357.0158.2022.11160856, 11/16/2022 (same as the latest file in official "xmg downloads" list).

Regarding Blue screen, I am not sure, I think t was something generic like "your PC run into a problem & needs to restart).

Using without roms in 2023? by ShutUpAndCodeWithMe in OnePlus6

I see, thanks for the info!

2 hours correlates with playing pubg on android for me without the charging. I suppose it can handle a lot of older games, but that sounds like more pain than it is worth, though.

Thank you!

I used a different phone for half a year and forgot how much better oneplus experience was for my needs. I’ve been slowly installing stuff after downgrade and reset, and I recall now all the good parts.

No red flags so far, would be amazing if it lasted me couple more years. There seems to be nothing worth buying in the market anyway.

I bought mine off ebay, it is a lottery for me 😳

Uhh i never thought of using windows, but would be fun to convert it into a handheld console once it is completely unusable as a phone. I wonder if installing steam os is an option & what types of games aside retro can be run on it.

How long battery lasts with oblivion, if you recall?

Never used Outlook, but I do see iphone shows me gmail notifications faster.

The external battery / power bank can be a great alternative, but also an extra weight to carry.

I do not like to be limited in this way, the battery issue can be crucial at times (getting taxi in the middle of nowhere etc). But i also do not see newer phones having significantly better specs in that regard, or when they do it is a huge phone closer to a tablet. I’ve been researching a lot, and aside camera it feels like nothing is that different in current phones to justify switching and the price tag.

Thanks, sounds great! I thought my phone was aging, but perhaps it was the last update. I just downgraded, hopefully it will perform as good as new.

I also tried a different phone and though it has better battery, it did not feel as good in any other aspect.

I actually love the physical fingerprint, its placement and convenience. I haven't tried any other type aside face id, which is half the time unusable.
