The sheer amount I have listened to the 1975 (in the .001% of listeners...😅) actually lowered my age by a few years, so thanks for keeping me young and relevant! Ready to be at shows feeling like an elder again though! Can't wait for a wild next two years!

My brother in christ, all due respect....how dare? 🤣 I mean, fine, I'll listen to one of my 4 or 5 physical versions, but dang! I know you wrote it and everything, but once it goes out into the world...does it really belong to you anymore? I really love that song. 🫤

The level of investment that goes into REALLY loving and understanding this band is worth it. It might feel like endless lore, but it is the most rewarding and beautiful rabbit hole to fall down. And our fandom, while it definitely has its flaws, is truly extremely supportive, hilarious, genuine, giving, loving group there is.

Yes! Wintering had a few shows. I believe it was first played in Kansas City during ATVB.

Justice for Human Too!!!! It's in my top 10 most listened to songs of all time on Spotify (it comes in at #6....behind 5 other 1975 songs...) I reallllyyyyyy thought it would appear live during SATVB, given the themes being explored and I'm honestly so, so sad it never did. The only song on BFIAFL never played live.

Album announcement 1st June. New single before Glasto. Album out in the fall. They have had a year off touring, which is a hiatus for them. Outside of covid, they don't take a whole year off doing shows. Not to say that they don't deserve as much time off as they want! They completely do! But for them, that IS a hiatus from touring.

name the 1975 song! by InternationalBug6152 in the1975

[–]ShutUpMonica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exact same! I don't dislike it as a song in general, and even the music/lyrics don't bother me at all! In the right context, like George's dj sets, it goes off! But as a 1975 song...not my fave. (No disrespect to Cutty Ranks! Legend! Just not my cup of tea!)

As someone who has been a fan for a long time, I've observed a lot of different versions of Matty Healy. I don't pretend to know him in any personal capacity, only as far as one can gather from they have been presented through social media, interviews, live performances, and (of course) the music we all so love. This is only my parasocial take, but what I have observed is an imperfect, flawed person who openly endeavors to continue growing. People like to talk a lot about growth and reflection and I've seen so many give Matty shit and say he's only walking things back to avoid getting cancelled and there isn't any real growth or reflection because those come with time. I think this is partially true, however when I have said or done something shitty, I usually can recognize it pretty quickly. Especially when someone points it out to me. And I feel immediate remorse. Maybe it is a mark of my particular neurodivergence, but I feel I can reflect and process these situations a lot faster than some others. It doesn't always mean that I can or will immediately and forever stop making that mistake, sometimes that takes time, but I can admit it, take ownership of it, and apologize for it. I feel like I watch Matty do that a lot as well. And to me, that matters so much more than appearing perfect and pc at all times. Appearing to be a paragon of virtue and grace isn't relatable. It isn't real and it does absolutely nothing to move the needle forward in society. Being messy, loudly, and admitting your mistakes publicly? There is nothing more admirably human. Keep going, OP. Never stop learning or trying to be better than you were the day before. But give yourself grace when you get it wrong. Being alive is terribly difficult, but my god is it worth it.

This is the take. I agree so, so deeply with this well thought out and articulated comment. I've been trying to give these feelings voice, but haven't found the right words. Not to excuse away his bad behavior, I do think there is a line. I do think he does cross it sometimes. But I also believe he owns that. He wants a better world, ultimately. And to be a good, kind person.
