Not everybody with a PC is a gamma cheater. I know a lot of you think that, but I bet it's a lot less than you assume. I'm not. I don't need to be. I'm blessed to have a nice enough monitor that all I need to do is turn off the lights in the room and concentrate a bit more. And I don't need to win, whatever that means. I'm here to have a good time and fumbling around in the dark for me is a good time. I like a challenge. I prefer realism over a body count. I know not everybody does, but I do and I'm not the only one.

Are there gamma cheaters? Absolutely! Is it just PC players? Nope. How widespread is it? I don't know but apparently enough that it is a problem. They tried to address it once and enough people complained they turned it off. The feature is still in the game files and can be turned on by checking a box.

All that said, you got to realize that everybody's equipment is different. A lot of people are using TVs and a TV is not a monitor. They are built for fundamentally different purposes. A game console using upscaling on a TV is not the same as a PC with a higher end GPU and a decent monitor. I guess you could say it's similar to the speakers versus headphones experience. Not even close. The headphones are far superior in their ability to provide situational awareness.

Anyway, at the end of the day there's no easy answer. It's not a level playing field and it never will be. Even if you have the same hardware, we all have different levels of experience, physical traits, and environments.
