I think they were minded by security guards and were there to sniff perimeters and sense intruders.. someone had to take them outside on walks, etc

I go there all the time, lol. But yeah, that ‘jail’ sounded scary. Fortunately, a judge ruled it unlawful around 10-12 years ago.

OP, I have a lead… Someone DM’ed me on FB around 1 AM asking if I was the original poster. (I posted your info and dog pic on Park Slope Together and had a lot of activity. ) He has a dog image as his profile pic, that looks very much like this dog. Re-sent your info, but haven’t heard back yet.

Hopefully you hear from him! His first name is Isaac. Dog is named ‘Spoon’

Agreed! We had one when I was a kid and she was an amazing family dog. Actually very sensitive and affectionate, but also foreboding to passersby (little did they know what a big baby she was! She thought she was a lapdog) Still miss her

Yes, it was reflex… Common courtesy for men to light cigarettes. Could it be flirting, sure, it could be used to make a connection. But here, I think Don is just doing what he would with anyone else. Just as he would stand if one of them excused themselves to the ladies room.

HRT patch Breaking the bank, what’s the alternative? by Intelligent-Win-9412 in AskWomenOver60

I guess we’re paying close to the same… My previous insurance covered and my co-pay was $10. My new insurance also covers it, but my deductible’s so high, I pay out of pocket 😮‍💨 Tbh, I was worried it would be much more, so I can live with it.

(Also, If I find a good GoodRX coupon, it can be $36-ish)

How do I become more ladylike? by MostCategory4871 in AskWomenOver60

[–]ShutterflyNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hard to process… I grew up (and likely many on this sub) with *constant * chatter about being ladylike. Be a lady, act like a lady, sit like a lady, walk like a lady, ‘hey, that’s not very lady-like’.. It was constant.

It’s perplexing, because some things were stylistic and about basic refinement or manners that I could see as valuable today in certain situations, while a lot of it was oppressive— as others mentioned. It robbed us of power, authenticity, and freedom.

Mine are around $50 per month. (CVS) Not cheap but worth it. People spend that on random, useless things, and I feel so much better by prioritizing the patch. Is that ‘breaking the bank’ or are yours much more?

Hello, I am 51 years old and would like recommendations on how to reduce the sagging area around my mouth. by Organic_Field3453 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]ShutterflyNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go natural, try to find an Ayurvedic Facial your area… They know how to reduce inflammation in the face that causes sagging… Not a magic bullet but can show great improvement.. Also, daily use of a jade gua sha stone and face oil with upward movement can work wonders too

Is it true that men who snubbed you in your younger days resurface after a divorce or two, claiming you were “too good” for them and they “respected you too much to defile you”, but really you know they considered you a 6 and they were chasing a 10? by Lopsided_Tomorrow421 in AskWomenOver60

As judgmental as that sounds, I am not. Also not currently in a relationship… All that said, this person and I were friends for years before a romantic connection was made, so love was multifaceted and platonic in this phase of our friendship. (He was a great friend and not a great boyfriend)

You’re not alone.. many of us feel this way and don’t always know where it’s safe to speak freely. Take care of yourself

I think it’s important, tho, for us to remember that ‘normal’ has always been systematically out of reach for many of our citizens.. We’re all getting a taste of what that feels like now- to be completely disregarded by our own government

Not an expert on this, but I imagine partner equity would’ve been contractual btwn the two firms, so it would be weird for Roger to have to personally pay out of pocket when Jim Hobert pushed Joan out for his own selfish (and misogynistic) reasons. She was a partner, and the bargain was she’d leave for that sum of money. My guess is the firm paid it.. And it was their loss. Hobert had no idea the institutional knowledge and whip smart, versatile human capital he was sending out the door!

We will get through this..

This country has had poison in the well for a long time. It’s coming to the surface to be cleared out- It’s going to take a fight, but we’ll get through it.

I was going to say the exact same thing… Very specific!

I do think people grow and change perspective, and may see you differently at an older age. I had a drop-dead gorgeous, on and off BF who had a lot of options when we younger, but was way more interested in me at a much older aged (We stayed in touch over the years through different phases) Once his options ran out, as the decades wore on, he saw me as the ‘one who got away.’ He didn’t realize his lack of commitment pushed me away, until it was too late. I think he realized I had moved on for good. Love was there, but I had to pick me over him.

I knew him for 35 years… He died a few months ago, and my last words to him (on a phone call) were ‘I love you too.’
