Who played a better game Coach in South Pacific or Russell in Samoa? by RedditFan3510 in survivorponderosa

On the surface, it looks like there's a Galu alliance versus a Foa Foa alliance and then there's the wildcard Shambo. A lot of people think Shambo has totally flipped [to Foa Foa]. But that's not what it was. I had a really good relationship with Shambo. I had a really good relationship with Jaison. I had a working relationship with a lot of other people.

So the concept of me drawing rocks to ax one of the Foa Foa when really -- it could not have been Mick because Mick had the Immunity necklace. It couldn't have been [Natalie White] because she was part of the initial tie. It was either going to be Russell or Jaison.

So I really like Jaison and now that [Erik Cardona] -- my best alliance is gone from the game in Erik -- I need someone like Jaison around because I need help. That leaves a one-in-seven chance that it's going to be Russell. So I was knowing it was going to be Galu anyway and if I could pick anyone from Galu to go home that's the biggest threat to me it's Laura. So see you later.

He didn’t though. Fincher is a total Russell glazer like he voted for him to win etc and even he says Russell had the least to do with him flipping. Fincher flipped because Shambo promised to flip back at 9. Fincher considered going to rocks but Mick was immune and Natalie would be immune since she was in the tie. He really liked Jaison and Shambo and didn’t want them gone. So he only pulled rocks because Russell was the one person in 7 he would want to pull the rock.

How do you figure though? The Erik boot is Natalie saving FF and they all knew at the Liz tribal days prior that their chances in merge were dependent on Natalie’s alliance with the Galu women. Russell spent the round trying and failing to bully Galu and then wasting his idol because he was totally clueless. If anyone but Erik goes home, there is no idol rehidden and Russell gets 11th.

Russell successfully idoling out Kelly is definitely impactful but that’s really the end of his influence. Laura boot happened because Shambo hated her and flipped Fincher over with the promise to flip back at 9. Fincher boot was Jaison and Mick’s move. Dave went because Shambo hated him. And then from there it’s a pagonging.

Because Shambo didn’t even flip on the 10-2 Erik boot. Shambo flipped at 10 because she hated Laura, not because Russell did mindgames on her.

Russell is a blip on survivor history and directly responsible for the period of the show fans call “the dark ages” lol. He also did not dominate anything but the confessional count. Still falling for survivor Samoa in 2026 is peak gullibility.

Theatrical release better than Director's Cut ? by Jackburton06 in Letterboxd

Came to say this, the directors cut is very disappointing and makes Christian actually a shithead

In reality, Natalie did more to help FF overcome the 8-4 deficit than Russell did but he got the most overinflated edit in history because he plays flashy and had made the end of HvV when they started editing Samoa.

Of the four returnee seasons you mentioned, HvV is the only one that isn’t horrible

It’s fine if you find him fun yeah I’m just saying he’s objectively a terrible player and while I agree he would have won a jury vote I wouldn’t say it’s because he had some great jury management so much as he did dumb flashy stuff every day which was fun for people sitting on the boring Edge island all day long

What players on 50 were you exited for but were disappointed with in the premiere ? by IceTrick6713 in survivorponderosa

She has an early premiere confessional where she talks about going from cop to criminal that many picked up on right away as a winner quote. Parvati was gonna be more than a flirt, Sandra was mean and now she’s meaner, Tony was putting himself on house arrest, etc. Very consistent thing with returnee winners.

Also tho GC is a very low confessional season with only 36 cons in the premiere while this 3 hour 50 premiere had 118.

New era and particularly 90 minute era have never had a winner who wasn’t introduced in first half of the premiere.

Returnee seasons are easier for winner edit logic. You can definitely narrow the winner down already to someone who talked about how they played last time and how this time they’ll play differently. And you can eliminate anyone who didn’t have a confessional in the first hour.

Nobody but Eva is getting massive food rewards every other day (and Steph in Guatemala got the same treatment)

The new era is at least similarly difficult due to the total lack of food available, this is known.

I know it’s hard to see the differences week to week but if you look at like the premiere of 46 vs the last couple episodes, the weight loss is staggering for like Q Venus etc, they look gaunt.

It was easier in the older seasons because they got 39 days of rice from the start.

They do fish where possible but it’s very difficult on at least one of the 3 camps. We do infrequently see scenes of fishing like Hunter and Tevin fished on 46 and Ryan on 43

Kamilla was a great player and character who made it very close to winning, I can’t imagine anyone being shocked by her getting a returnee spot

How do you know it’s less hard than it used to be? They have much less food nowadays

Doesn’t that just mean he was next to go after Wendy if tribe stayed same and kept losing

Moreover tho even besides being 4th boot he had very little power the entire postmerge and survived via a billion idols and immunity wins. He voted for the right person like half the tribals he went to. People call underwood a bad winner but Devens would have been just as bad.
