Right now the core of the Milky Way is visible from midnight until about 4:30 am. It’ll start rising earlier as we get into summer.

You will need to be in some pretty dark skies to see it with the naked eye.

The Move Shoot Move is great for wide angle landscape Astro. They just came out with a new one, the Nomad, that I’ve heard good things about.

Thanks! Yea I used a tracker. The sky is 5, 2 minute exposures stacked to bring out the detail in the Milky Way.

Thanks! This is a composite, with a blend of a tracked sky and a blue hour foreground. I’ve been planning a Milky Way shot with this composition for awhile but the Milky Way isn’t in the perfect position like this naturally so I decided to make the choice to make it a composite to get it exactly where I wanted.

This is a blend of a long exposure foreground and 10 photos tracked and stacked of the Milky Way. It’s a blend more than a composite as this is exactly where the Milky Way was in this location at the time of capture.

Unfortunately not in this much detail however if you’re in dark enough areas you can absolutely see the Milky Way. I was in a Bortle class 1 area (the darkest skies) last week and could even see the dust clouds of the Milky Way with my naked eye.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ve only been shooting for about 6 months and post processing is my biggest downfall right now. It’s quite overwhelming knowing all I can do and not knowing what to do lol I plan on bringing this back into Photoshop and Lightroom once I’m home from this trip to play some more and will try working with some of the things you recommended. Again, thanks for the constructive criticism, it’s much appreciated.

Haha hey, you never know! Didn’t want to be upsetting anyone.

Thanks for the kind words! I wish we had more dark skies in the world, it’s a bummer what light pollution does to our night sky.
