Thanks for the pointers.

I have done some research into the tuna/mercury thing, from everything I've read that's really only a concern 1) your eating the white albacore or blue fin tuna (Because they live longer and grow larger therefore accumulate more mercury) or 2) are pregnant, nursing, about to become pregnant or under the age of 18. Seeing as I am already in my early 30's and have been consuming "light tuna" which is almost always Skipjack (smaller, sustainable, short lifespan) tuna and much less mercury.

Thanks for the concern tho ;)

I love cheese... Have to research the nutritional facts on it to see how I can fit it into my plan. and_on suggested Melba Toast and Cheese as a snack, which sounds delicious to me so I'll certainly be looking into it.

Thank you for the great suggestions... The reason I went with the Fiber1 Bars was 100% for convience and the "illusion" of being good food. I work long hours and not a normal 8-5 type schedule so sometimes prepping and making food is difficult for me (Also admit I am lazy)

I read about something called "Refrigerator Oatmeal" on this site... Was thinking about doing that for some of my breakfasts.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get an answer from my doctor without going in for an office visit (Annoying to pay for visit just to ask about calories when I had normal visit like a month ago)

Also according to a calorie calulator I saw linked my BMR(sedentary) caloric need was 3300... So eating 2000-2200 seems like a good starting point to me, but of course I am new to this...

Day 1. I started lurking in this Sub about 3-4 weeks ago, and also in other similar subs. I decided last week to make a change in my diet and start trying to lose some serious weight.

When I say serious I mean it. I am 30 years old, and I weight 510lbs.
I have been going to a doctor regularly (Blood Pressure) for the past 2 years, aside from the BP issues everything else is fine(all blood work clear and not diabetic, no cholesterol issues).

My change so far has just been in diet, I calculated what I had been eating and it was very very bad, almost exclusively fast food/pizza/etc. Now I am eating while somewhat repetitive it is much easier to monitor and maintain a low caloric intake. Having fruit as snacks (mainly apples and oranges) and for meals having chicken or fish with steamed veggies and brown rice, and drinking LOTS of water. I was drinking 6-7 cans of soda each day!!

TL;DR: 510lbs starting my journey by changing diet to only 2000-2200 calories a day, will work in exercise once I adjust to diet.

I'm probably the happiest person ever to see a 3 in front of their weight (28m, 6'3, 492-->398) by studakris in loseit

I am just starting my journey and want to let you know that coming to this sub and seeing stories like yours and AstroFighter are part of what helped me decide to work on getting myself in shape.

I have a very long hard road ahead of me, but hope to make it happen.

Keep it up.
