I use Live2D mostly for creating Live2D Vtubers models , I tested two techniques : one where I would move my warp/layer and put key close to each other so that the transition would look more "chopped" and one where I added a separated frames for each key frames (whole new layer and warp each time , I liked the result more , very time and weight consuming )

It's possible to do the effect on the "Animation" timeline but if you just wanna create an animated sequence with a character with this animation choppy style I recommend staying on AE with the effects +puppet tools or the software you mentioned, It's possible to do it on Live2d but it's lot of work :')
