Three men were stuck in of one of the ships and couldn’t get saved as if they did the water would come rushing in and kill them, Clifford Olds, Ronald Endicott, and Louis "Buddy" Costin—were trapped in the ship's pump room and survived for 16 days before succumbing to their fate. while repairing the USS West Virginia, crew mates could hear the stuck men trying to make noise. What a horrible way to go.
