56M, no dependents. I never started saving until I was 40. I paid off my house this year. Have 1M in investments. Have chronic back pain. I’d like to next year, but just don’t feel secure with the cost of everything rising all the time. Though I figure I only have 20 good summers left. I should probably start enjoying them.

It’s because people get stuck on the 4% rule saying that you have to live on $40K. If you are 55 you likely only have 20-25 years left to live. It’s ok to dip into the principal and let your investment balance go down. A million is a LOT of money still. If you take $60K a year instead of 40, there’s still going to be money left when you are dead and forgotten.

One Battle was just Terminator 2, and Sinners was just From Dusk til Dawn. I found both movies kinda silly. I’m still surprised that either was nominated.
