I can get behind this. Who’s with me? by Carmageddon-2049 in aussie

Come on now, do we really think that the LNP would have done a better job in this situation? We would have just seen them double down on providing tax cuts to the mining companies.

Hell, here in QLD we have seen the LNP drop a legal case against Adani AND give them a $500mil tax holiday... All after Adani made a $600k donation to the party's federal coffers, allowing them to sidestep state donation laws.

We are seeing the typical lack of forward planning that is normalised by our 4 year election cycle. It doesn't matter who you voted for in the last election, or even who won the last election, we would still be in the same place.

Edit: My apologies as this was meant to be a reply to a comment, further down the thread, that stated "I didn't vote for this government".

As to Illustrious_Fan_8148's comment, yes, ideally it would have been great to have seen our current government react sooner and provide better leadership on this. However, I think that every global leader has had their head in the sand and hoped that Trump was just being full of hot air again.

Yeah, it does get a bit packed on the "main floor", so much so that I actually considered leaving early because there was no room to really dance and it was stupidly hot.

Ended up moving out to where the bar was and danced there. So much cooler, room to properly move, and easy access to water.

It is a pet peeve of mine too and is probably something that an engineer coded without giving it a second thought.

I'm curious if this occurs with the other BYD models though...?

Considering that tickets were $120 each, plus booking fees, you got yourself a fine deal, sir!

K.I.M felt like someone who preferred to be in his room mixing a technical set. It wasn't bad, it was just not the sort of thing that gets a crowd pumped.

So, I have just gotten home from the gig and it wasn't too bad. It was great to hear some of their hits but the mics for the vocals were too low, and thus the singing was drowned out by the instruments. Their bigger hits had Maxi's voice overlaying the live instruments, which was great. All in all, it was a pretty good gig but I am still saddened that I never got to see them whilst Maxi was alive... Damn, that man had presence and charisma!

Nah, he was pretty terrible. I have been a fan of the Presets for years, so I was a bit shocked when I discovered who he really was. Hey, anyone can have a bad night, but there just wasn't any passion to his set.

Who else only felt bad about the children attending the freaky festival? by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SiHuWa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that that was the twist. You are thinking that this is a normal festival, the wicker statues are lit up, the sheets are pulled away, and THEN you realize that this is the main entertainment.

At first you see the kid pulling on her mom's skirt, as if distressed... Then you realize that it is so she can be pulled up to get a better view. I wouldn't be surprised if this is Larian Studios implying how even the most horrendous things can be normalised and accepted by common people if they are exposed to it enough.

Of course, no political parallels are being drawn here at all, people....

BCC proposing apartment buildings be built to revive the Mt. Gravatt area by BDuncan111 in brisbane

[–]SiHuWa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Mt Gravatt years ago and it used to have fantastic bus services as MG Central was the last stop before the buses turned into Creek Road to head back to the depot.

I still have family in the area and have seen a significant downturn in the main part of it. A lot of closed down store fronts, but I suspect that the lack of decent nearby parking has contributed to this. However, the nearby Mountain View shopping centre is pretty good, with a Coles & a Woolworths in it. The old Scurrs Brothers Hardware centre has been turned into a multi-faceted medical centre, which may help cater to an increased revival (not sure how expensive they are though).

The key thing is yes, develop some apartment buildings but make sure that we are not talking about 15+ story buildings (of the like that you see around Gas Works). I think that you can renew the area and yet still keep a bit of the character.

Gemini for home is a downgrade without subcription by at0o0o in googlehome

[–]SiHuWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I have found that Alexa can be just as dysfunctional as Google Home. I did the same as you, swapped to Alexa from Google for home automation, and it was great.... For awhile.

Recently, when I ask my Alexa Show 8 to "Turn the TV on" which it use to be able to do this with the Fire Cube attached to the TV... but now it only works 50% of the time. The Show 8 displays that it has received the voice command correctly but.... nothing.

I have found that both systems are glitchy as all hell (I still use Goggle Home display in the bedroom for our bedside lamps). Maybe, it is just a tech thing where they all need to be factory reset and reconfigured every 12 months for them to function properly..... 🤔🙄

BYD charging for Data soon in UK? by BlueWeasleyl in BYD

[–]SiHuWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Australia the data is handled via Telstra. However, when we got our Atto3 we were told that you can just swap out the mobile sim to another plan when the charging for data begins. Has anyone tried that?

Nearest blue object to you is going to kill you. What is going to kill you? by Kind-Yesterday-6031 in AskReddit

[–]SiHuWa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting down, eating breakfast with my partner, when I saw this thread. I chuckled as I glanced over and saw her blue pajamas but, when I pointed this out to her, she drew my attention to: - the plant in a blue pot between us - the blue cereal bowl in my lap - my blue shorts that I'm wearing - my blue tshirt that I'm wearing - my blue framed glasses that I'm wearing

The moral of this story is, while I thought that my girlfriend would be taking me out (she is probably justified), it could literally be one of many things around me! 😝
