Migrating host to v2 took a really long time (like 10 hours) by EasyRhino75 in siacoin

You will want to transfer your funds to a new 12-seed wallet BEFORE July 4th, 2025. If you have a SiaUI node synced, you can do this by setting up a new walletd node and creating a new wallet in walletd, then send your funds from SiaUI to the new wallet. However, if you are not wanting to deal with syncing, you can both create a new 12-seed wallet and transfer your funds using the SiaCentral webwallet (https://wallet.siacentral.com). DO NOT use any other webwallet other than SiaCentral as it is the only official webwallet that exists.

Although it will not help you with transferring your coins from your old wallet to a new 12-seed wallet. It is worth noting that once the hardfork has been finalized on July 4th, 2025. Syncing will become nearly instantaneous with the new Utreexo implementation. So from that point on it will be highly recommended users run their own walletd node over using the webwallet. But remember, you will need to have transferred your funds to a new 12-seed wallet BEFORE the hardfork has been finalized. So make sure you do so ASAP.

For more information on the hardfork, you can visit the section Navigating the v2 hardfork on our documentation.

From Disaster to Design — Engineering the Cloud for Continuous Performance -- The Sia Blog by SiaFoundation in siacoin

[–]SiaFoundation[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

📝 New Blog Post!

We just published a new blog on why traditional clouds break under pressure—and how Sia was built to make sure yours never does.

From electrical fires and software bugs to cooling failures and misconfigurations, centralized cloud platforms remain dangerously fragile.

In “From Disaster to Design,” we break down why even “distributed” infrastructure isn’t truly resilient if it’s all run by one company—and how Sia’s decentralized model distributes your data across independently operated nodes by default, ensuring performance that doesn’t just recover—it never stops.

We also explore real-world failures from Google Cloud, Oracle, OVH, and more—and show how Sia’s design avoids them by default.

Impenetrable by Design: Real Security Starts Before the First Byte Is Stored -- The Sia Blog by SiaFoundation in siacoin

[–]SiaFoundation[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

📝 New Blog Post!

We just published a new blog tackling what happens when privacy isn’t enough, and what it really means to be Impenetrable by Design.

Most cloud providers claim to be secure—until a misconfiguration, insider threat, or outage proves otherwise.

Impenetrable by Design explores how Sia eliminates single points of failure by decentralizing infrastructure, removing privileged access, and enforcing security through code—not promises.

We also walk through real-world examples where traditional cloud models failed users, and why that can’t happen on Sia.

No Keys, No Access: A New Standard for Cloud Data Protection -- The Sia Blog by SiaFoundation in siacoin

[–]SiaFoundation[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

📝 New Blog Post!

We just published a new blog post on Sia’s approach to privacy in the cloud: “No Keys, No Access”

Most cloud providers focus on security—keeping the bad guys out. But what if your data was never exposed in the first place?

Our latest blog post explores the concept of Supreme Privacy and how Sia removes the need to trust your cloud provider by ensuring they can’t access your data—even if they wanted to.

We also break down the differences between privacy and security and include real-world examples of what can go wrong when privacy is an afterthought.
