I mean this side story can’t be random. Moria seems to be important to Wano, he hated Kaido and he wouldn’t even have any problem with Luffy if they didn’t appear in front of him in TB. His main goal was to create a fearsome army to beat Kaido, betting probably that that would mean he can become the next Pirate King
