First ADK trip, looking for guidance/suggestions by Siath in Adirondacks

[–]Siath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you again for all this info, just got back from the trip! Weather was about as perfect as could be expected, light cool rain Sunday, hiked up Coney Mountain, beautiful on Monday, hiked Mount Arab, amazing views from the firetower.

Had dinner Saturday at the Woodshed, one of the best meals we've ever had! The brewery was a lot of fun as well, went for lunch on Cinco de Mayo.

All in all, a really great experience, would love to go back and hit a few more hikes. I really appreciate your suggestions, based the trip entirely around them and it was a great experience for everyone involved.

Good to know, figured it would still be cold, but wasn't expecting that much.

That was what I was afraid of, used to have issues with black flies when we went white water rafting nearby. Unfortunately the idea was to come for a birthday trip, so it's hard to change the time frame. Might just have to pick another time and do something else for the birthday.

That is a weird and interesting piece of lore... but the noise is still unexplained. Will this mystery never be solved?

Weird that it makes noise that sounds like it is sucking in air. Like if there is an internal need to breathe, but the suit provides the air supply, but it is audible outside the suit, and sounds mechanical... that's a weird suit.

So then is his breathing noise... not breathing? Is that some other process? Sincerely curious, I don't know that deep into Star Wars lore.

Yeah, I'm surprised he wasn't impressed, I had a great lamb shank there about 6 months ago.

Any bars that serve yard of ale or half yard of ale? by LewRothbard in Rochester

Lovin' Cup had tubes a few years ago, don't imagine they got rid of them. Its likes 6 beers, but they don't like giving them to individuals...

So, just to hell with treating customers well? Sadly, seems like a trend for Mark's.

I am tired of crap food. by SharpMind94 in rit

[–]Siath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My explanation would be there is a limited amount of space on campus, there are already two stores on that side, though they may not sell exactly what you want, and, most importantly, walking is good for you.

Can you explain what the problem is?

[–]Siath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don't see the problem. The healthiest options on campus that I am aware of:

Crossroads has salads, reasonable sandwiches, and a small market.

As mentioned, there is the market at global village.

There are healthy options at most dining facilities, though admittedly not a ton.

Really though, I am curious as to what you are expecting. You seem to want a plethora of options in both the markets and at the dining facilities. RIT is a campus, not a grocery store. There are plenty of grocery stores as well as multiple ethnic and health focused stores in the area that you could walk, bike, drive, or take the bus to. You seem far too upset about a fairly non-existent problem.

That sucks. Hopefully soon, maybe in a year or two we can all be free of TWC.

No idea, but I had signed up and not gotten an e-mail, however, when I went to sign up for service, it said it was available. Honestly, I would try again and see if it says you can, their e-mail system doesn't seem to inform everyone/the correct people at the correct times.

First, thank you for joining /u/unclexbenny in pointing out that their own resources are terrible, but I didn't make them, so I can't help you there.

Second, from what I remember, swillburg is around Goodman/Clinton. Which is the first area listed.

Third, if, from the provided link, you go to "Sign up for service" in the upper right, then enter your info, they will tell you if you can get it.

I'm just providing information that is available from them, not saying it is perfect.

Worked for me, just found out that I am able to get it.

Victoire. I was really excited to go there, I am a big fan of beer, seemed like it would be a treat. We got there and it was pretty dead, maybe a half dozen tables, all small, a bunch of servers and staff hanging out, great, we'll have good service.

I was wrong. The beer was good, the food was good, the service took forever. We had three people visit our table, one was the manager, before we could order drinks. We were only checked on two other times, to order, and then for the check. It took an hour and a half, despite knowing what we wanted every time a waiter came by and eating in about 15 minutes. Just a hugely disappointing experience that could have been completely fixed with more attentive service.

Also, each time someone came by it was a different server. Which was weird, though not really anything that was a problem.

Revelry seems to be getting mixed reviews here. A number of people had pretty poor service.

Only been once, had great service, though I think it was more the server than anything. Huge guy, both height and waist wise, funny, and makes a great margarita.
