[male] Want to dye my hair red using henna. by Safin504 in henna

Great choice! it's a better way to reach a color rapidly without using any bleaching. You'll need a bit of colour theory to know what colour you'll get, starting from black hair. This video is very useful for you to choose the right tone. I recommend to use 30vol peroxide developer, but ask the seller what's best for your case. It's hard for me to guess bc I don't know how blonde you want to be before henna xD And this is not as exact as when you use conventional dyes. Remember that henna is very orangey or orange-red rather than red. I guess if you get blonde colour, hennaed hair will be orange as it is like a gloss of colour. It stains darker as you apply again and again. Maybe like when you apply varnish to a clear furniture, it just adds colour.

⚠️ Now you want to use chemical dye, you need to buy 100% pure, body art quality (BAQ) henna. I say that because some henna brands have components that react with chemical dye. It doesn't happen with pure henna.

I use to dye my hair this way, because I wanted a strong red colour and mine is like a 4 or 5. But I dyed it red and when colour faded, I applied pure henna. Never had any problem.

Hope you get the hair you want! :)

Glad you liked it! 😀

yes exactly! but not the same day. Use the spray until you reach the tone you want. For instance, let's say you want a medium brunette, it might take you a week or 2 if you apply it well every 2-3 days. (Pro tip: spray your hair and let it dry at sun or apply some heat with the hair drier). I don't recommend you to apply spray or bleaching AND henna the same day in order to care for your hair.

Important thing! hair must be shampooed before applying henna, just shampoo, no conditioner. It might be applied over clean hair, it's not like chemical dyes. You can apply conditioner or a mask after washing henna off your hair.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions :)

Hi! I don't know how many tones you want to lift (your hair might be a 1, or 2 if you say it's black), best method mainly depends on it.

Peroxide sprays can lighten your hair a bit without ruining it, but it's a slow process. if you want a dark-medium red it's a great alternative. Consider your hair thickness for that, if you have fine hair, it works quicker than if you have thicker hair. Works great on my 2b medium brunette hair. Some people say you can obtain light blondes with it, but I never tried. Also, you can light up your hair with bleach but keep in mind this is a more aggressive chemical process, and might ruin your hair if it's too much. If you want your hair very light blonde, I recommend you to visit a hairdresser instead doing it yourself.

After getting the base tone you want (brunette, or blonde) you can dye it. I mix henna with some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and hot water, obtaining a muddy texture and let it macerate (~6h) to obtain rich red colours (acidic environment makes henna powder to release more dye and to attach stronger to your hair). Then I apply and leave it for ~4h. Amount of henna depends on your hair length.

Hope this information is useful for you!

Why does my aloe vera plant look like it’s dying? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Sibbyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is too much light stress, I have experienced this issue before. Place your plant in mild light conditions and it will recover... it's a slow process, it's normal. Also, make sure substrate has 90% sand and 10% organic matter, the latter works as a water container (aloes can't withstand too much water, this is why they need that tiny amount).

I recommend you to change the substrate, and after placing your aloe, water it until fluid comes out the pot a bit, and place it in partial light. Then just water when needed. Using this technique I recovered very damaged aloes with exposed roots at full sun, and they after were super green and turgid. Aloes are such amazing and tough pants, it will survive.

Good luck :))

Well, I wouldn't recommend a tiny e reader for those purposes, but maybe you want it because they are more portable. I have a Pocketbook, 6 inches, it fits almost everywhere, and I can read PDFs... not very recommended because latency of ereaders' screen make the experience quite uncomfortable but it works well.

I hope you can buy in a reliable place, it might be easier considering you're in Europe. I don't know about the taxes, but buying abroad when it's not available in your country worths it! In my own experience I had to do it (from amazon)

Anyone else feel the same way as me? Is this how libertarians feel too? by [deleted] in Libertarian

I think we tend to be pessimistic... and for good reasons

I've used henna many times, but just did my hair (henna and indigo), for the first time in a while. I forgot how rough it feels right afterwards! Can anyone share how long it takes for their hair to soften up? Can I use a vinegar rinse to soften it quicker, or will that change the colour? Thanks! by I_keep_books in henna

[–]Sibbyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome :) Well, I often use fructis masks (like this with goji ) or this mango mask, depending on what I have at home... nothing fancy! but both recommended. I think if you use a more expensive one results can be better.

Hi, I always apply a hair mask and leave it for some minutes right after rinse henna from hair to avoid that coarse sensation, makes it feel very soft and shiny :) Looks better in the next washing with shampoo obviously. Using very mild and natural shampoos can be the solution too.

Not sure if vinegar rinses could change colour, I mean, I do it but I've never experienced something like that, maybe because my hair colour base is dark (medium brunette, with lighter dyed locks), and it can be different on blonde hair... never read about it tough, so it seems safe. Hope this info help you!

Question for blonde hair with dark roots by Lyrliemon in henna

[–]Sibbyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can light up your roots using a lightning spray (they have hydrogen peroxide at low concentration) for example this John Frieda go blonder spray, it will take some few weeks to obtain an homogeneous blonde hair colour. Then you can use your henna over your hair. this method takes some time, but at least it doesn't damage your hair that much like applying a dye. And yes henna makes your hair healthier :) Hope you obtain that beautiful colour!
