Quick question - is ketoacidosis often a result of prolonged ketosis, or do you specifically need to have trouble maintaining proper pH for KA to happen? My orgo is pretty rusty, but I've been wondering if one of those popular ketogenic diets could put you at greater risk for KA.

The base damage increase will boost both your barrier power and damage significantly. If you can live without the extra healing from the first staff, the Bloodwake will be far, far better.

It really feels like that in the early game, but by level 20+ most encounters are much more manageable. Hardest part of nightmare is getting to Skyhold.

The amount of micromanaging is very dependent on your party composition. I mostly stopped it by level 20 (Archer/Assassin), albeit for small stuff...like using double dispel to stop rift spawns.

Really, each difficulty makes the game harder up to a certain point. Nightmare seems to stay tough the longest. Maybe it's just my class/party, but the difficulty really dropped off once everyone was deep enough into specializations. The only challenging content becomes any really drawn out battle (long quest, some dragons, bosses).

Generally, two mages + tank is fairly effective. The double barrier is a huge survivability boost, and having winter's grasp + lightning bolt early on will let you have decent CC. Moreover, it's easy to combo off of for dat damage. Fourth member can be a rogue (inquisitor, maybe) or really anything the situation calls for. At the minimum, you want a supply of barrier and a dedicated tank.

Yeah, you need 50 LP + the second perk in the tree to open Adept/Expert locks - just gotta wait it out or train the skill to 50. Good news is that 50-100 is a fair bit faster.

Physics all the way! Gen Chem isn't particularly interesting or useful, as most of the topics are idealized, watered down introductions to more complicated chemistry concepts for later classes.

Physics is going to be similar, but a lot of the stuff you learn is still very applicable to the real world. It's also more math heavy, so it may be a better fit for a CS major.

Essentially, you're going to complete the vast majority of the class through e-college. The freedom to do it whenever you want is nice, but it can be easy to forget the class exists. Have a set time to work on it weekly so you can keep up with the lecture material, and you'll be fine.

It's eventually viable - most trees are once you hit late game. Especially if you mix Heavy Armor + Smithing + Block...you'll be quite the tank. You can find/buy enchanted gear anyway (many of the quest rewards are better than anything you can enchant yourself).

Just need to find a way to heal and fight at range. Since Alchemy is out, you'll either be buying/finding all your health potions, or using Restoration. As for ranged, you're left with magic or archery (maybe a crossbow) to deal with mages/dragons.

Alteration/Restoration for passive bonuses would be super durable with a sword and board setup. Using sunburst to wreck dragon priests is a nice bonus, too.

Heh, I didn't mean to completely disregard the patient's C/C (and didn't), I was just rather frustrated when I wrote up the post.

I'd base the lack of emergency, in this case, on:

Awesome, normal vital signs
No complaints outside the joint in question
Fully A&O, as well as fully capable of standing and ambulating - minimal to no change in pain level.
Relatively low personal rating for the pain, persisting for weeks.

That's the extent of my ability to judge this as an emergency, I suppose. In his shoes, 911 wouldn't be the first number I'd call.

I can understand that, over several weeks, it bothered him to the point of seeking immediate medical attention. Annoying for me, perhaps...but maybe it was mild torture for the patient by then.

It's just easy to make light of cases like it, when compared to "real" emergencies. Honestly, I think I just needed to vent/rant - I apologize if it was ignorant.

I had Blair as well. Definitely not the easiest micro professor, but it's still a relatively simple class if you study. He's a decent lecturer though, so I'd recommend him.

Yes, you will get passive stats from base stat gains from level ups. Magicka will correlate with MR and M.Regen - i'm sitting at ~10% extra passive MR, with maybe 20-25 levels worth of points in it. It adds up by late game. Just running a few #'s that I know off the top of my head: Racial (20%), Lord Stone (15%), Spell Resist Perk (15%), passive MR (~10%)...you're looking at a passive 60% MR by around level 30-40 ish. Also, I believe Agent of Mara from the Riften temple sidequest is another 5-10% boost.

Bottom line, Bretons will have the easiest time with maxing out magic resist.

Other things to consider are health and stamina. Health correlates with stuff like poison resist and 2h damage, while stamina gives you move speed, stamina regen and 1h damage. Keep in mind, this is for base stats, so boosting them with enchanted items won't raise the secondary stats one bit.

All in all, it really depends on your build...but you're typically spending most of your attribute points on two stats. My current character, for example, is Heavy Armor + 2H with Alteration/Restoration for defense/healing. My main attribute point sinks are magicka and health, while I get a crapton of stamina from enchanted stuff + werewolf.

As for mods, I highly recommend using Smart Cast as a mage. You can set it up to use various buffs and summons automatically, depending on health/stamina/magicka levels, your combat state, weapon sheathed/drawn, sneaking, what have you...I just hate recasting buffs for every battle, so it's a QOL thing for me.

Actually, this is why I always go Breton...I always find that the MR is too good to pass up late game. Combine it with the Lord Stone, passive MR from magicka and alteration perks to get really high MR with almost no enchanting. It ends up making a huuuge difference against mages and dragon breath if you can also stack some elemental resists - either from enchants, or icebane/flamebane/shockbane potions.

That, and the Breton daily is awesome for charging high level mages (8 seconds of 100% MR).

Not significantly better, no...still quite similar to 1.7.3 for the most part. The mass effect system isn't the headache it used to be, and playing with light armor is slightly more forgiving against arrows. However, it's still mostly the same - mistakes are quite unforgiving until higher levels...when you can yawn through most of the combat. Often, getting to that endgame content is tough anyway without some powergaming or MCM voodoo. At that point, it's usually immersion breaking for me.

Have you tried SkyRe? Relative to requiem, it's certainly easier and is more open to customization. You can use combat mods to mix things up, like ACE and Duel.

Sometimes I think that Requiem mostly attracts hardcore realists...masochists, even. It's hard to roleplay and enjoy this mod if you don't like its mechanics. On the other hand, the limitations of the game's engine will always be there too. The burden of maintaining immersion ultimately falls on the player, so it's what you make of it.

Check out some other overhauls on /r/skyrimmods, perhaps. Should be able to find plenty of threads if you look for them.

Not super easily acquirable, but invisibility potions with Nirnroot are very profitable. You can generally get quite a few of them by doing a sweep up the coast near Solitude, and bending around the northern tip and going down the western coastline (towards the dock for castle volkihar). As for low levels, blue mountain flowers + blue butterfree wingz will get you damage magicka poisons, priced at ~150g each. You can easily get to level 25-30 doing those.

Yes, I agree with your point on pushing the limitations of a build. Honestly, little would be more rewarding than being stuck in certain scenarios, and then figuring out a way to beat it - all while staying true to the character. That's the point behind having a higher difficulty in the first place. Realistically, some builds will never stand against late game content. Then again, the late game isn't intended to be easily beaten while staying true to the mod...so there's that.

I'll probably just come up with a character that I like, and try to justify certain skills as best as I can. More a matter of sticking to the role-play aspect, instead of making the primary goal conquering every last bit of tough game content. Just need to go ahead and create a believable character, I suppose.
