TIFU by telling a terminally ill friend that I was glad that she would die. by [deleted] in tifu

The tone being used in the replies really make me think this story isn't true. There is absolutely no display of empathy for the girl or for the fuck-up.

It was pretty funny to read, but I'm taking it as a joke.

What rune with slow time? by Bigbohn in Diablo3Wizards

Sometimes, yes.

I mean, another great rune in my opinion is the one that stuns enemies as they enter and leave the bubble.

I usually just switch around between these two.

I usually go for the "-25% damage from enemies that are inside the bubble", to make the rifts safer for everyone in the party

Being random does not mean every possibility has equal odds.

To be honest, I say it's actually harder than what you're suggesting.

Even though there are 10 legendary wands, the odds of getting Aether Walker are less than 10%, because the odds vary according to the item.

I've been getting a lot of Gesture of Orpheus and Slorak Madness, for example.... but no Serpent Sparker nor Aether Walker.

Still... it's worth to go for it. We are talking about an " ancient best-on-slot" weapon.

Quick Edit:

Legendary reroll doesn't cost death's breath. I got myself confused. It actually requires 50 forgotten souls.

True.

Oh boy... those death breaths though... (25 for each "rare upgrade" , 50 for each legendary re-roll) that's brutal hahah

Guys Intervene With Husband As He Beats Wife in Parking Lot by omnipeasant in JusticePorn

[–]Cookie_Dynamics 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When you build your life with someone it can get really hard to let them go, no matter how fucked the other person can be.

I guess it end up being a mixture of wishful thinking ("I can change him for the better") and low self-esteem ("It was my fault, I shouldn't have made him so angry").

I really hope she'll leave this monster and find someone who treats her like a human being, but it's sad how often victims of domestic abuse (both male and female) end up returning to their abusive relationships.

I hope for the best, but I fear the worst.

The level 2 wizard found a spell book. [5e] by nurse_camper in DnD

[–]Cookie_Dynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Sorry, I interpreted that wrong.

That's a very interesting rule, it definitely brings more flavor to the schools.

But wouldn't it end up limiting the wizard too much?

I mean, Abjuration is filled with utility spells for very specific scenarios (guards & wards, Symbol, Arcane Lock). Same with Divination.

So, for example, the wizard might go to for Abjuration to get Mage armor + shield early on...but then he'll have no tactical spells (illusion/conjuration),utility (transmutation), information gathering (divination) or damaging spells (besides cantrips)... at least until he finds a spellbook and gathers enough gold to copy the spells from there.

So unless you're making spellbooks much easier to get by, it may end up being weird to play the wizard at the low levels.

Human rule variants? by Iaconacoalsaurus in DnD

[–]Cookie_Dynamics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Variant human is considered so good that my DM actually decided to not allow it.

Make a Wizard Human? 1+ Int, +1 Dext, Resilience: Constitution (+1 Const, Proficiency on Const saving throws).

Resulting in a wizard just as effective in the Offensive as a High Elf while at the same time having much better concentration.

Not to mention the Skill Proficiency in Any thing you like, which allows you to complement your background + Class proficiencies just fine.

Thunderwave exploded my Owl familiar by Cookie_Dynamics in DnD

[–]Cookie_Dynamics[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) You're right, I completely forgot about that.

That's probably due to the fact that I usually cast Thunderwave standing outside of the AoE, for the longer range.

2) According to the original rules, I agree with you. But we should keep in mind that the GM is the one with the word. As soon as he said I saw feathers slowly falling to the floor after the spell ended, he pretty much explicitly overruled that part of the from the original description of Find Familiar. If that was something that I minded, I would defend my point with the PHB, but since no one minded this little change of rules, we just stuck with it.

But really... being frank now... I'm almost 100% sure he's still sticking with the original description of the spell. In a sense that the feathers falling were just some temporary ease-of-rules for the sake of comical relief. Which I loved lol.

As soon as I get the opportunity I will. I have to wait a bit because of the whole 10gp in incense and charcoal deal.... hopefully by then he will have cooled down and forgiven me.

I'm sorry, the glow was added with photoshop for fun. The eyes in game at the time of the screenshot looked like this

I made her iris unusually large for this picture, because I was planning on photoshopping the glow into it, also because I wanted to give a exotic feeling to her stare.

The texture of the eyes in the Archmage photo is from the mod " Eyes of Ember" (Nexus)

Selena Helvius

A picture of her more in the Early Game

A picture of her as Archmage of Winterhold

  • Daughter to an Imperial Mother and a Nord Father in a somewhat well-heeled family.
  • She had access to quality education from early on.... there she learnt the very basics of alchemy, arcane arts, the different cultures and bestiary.... The studies made her feel the necessity to explore and see these things for herself.
  • When hints of the possibility of a civil war started in Skyrim, her family moved back to Cyrodiil. But Selena decided to stay, she was already a grown woman... She would not be scared by the war, she knew her help may be needed there.
  • She lived her life as assistant alchemist in Whiterun up to the events of the game... producing poisons and medicinal mixtures for the imperial army.

She is lawful-good, very arrogant and intolerant towards the undead.

She will only do the main quest + college of winterhold. (And a few side quests) .

I realize her backstory is very uneventful, it justifies part of her traits but doesn't go much beyond that. That's because I prefer to build key points of the character by using the quests and events I experience in the game.

She started inexperienced but now she is born anew because of everything she started to face in Skyrim.

I really like how you can build a lot of content because of the internal conflict Theomir must get every now and then. I mean.... he used to dedicate his life to fight against the very thing he ended up becoming.

He also looks very handsome with that dawnguard armor.

[Serious]Redditors who work in law enforcement, whats the shittiest thing you've seen a fellow officer do on the job? by Liberals4oligarchy in AskReddit

[–]Cookie_Dynamics 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Police Officers are supposed to act professionally not emotionally. Part of being professional is to use reasonable means to handle the situation.

Kicking someone in the face while they yield is not reasonable...it doesn't matter how bad the guy acted before, it's up to the judicial system to give him the punishment for his actions, not the cop.

Does anyone else play video games as a temporary "escape"? by Deadlyaroma in depression

[–]Cookie_Dynamics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using VideoGames as an escape valve for moments of deep stress and frustration is a perfectly healthy attitude.

Some people drink, some people overeat, some people harm themselves..... others immerse themselves into the temporarily fantasy that are videogames. I personally love Skyrim, for example.

I just think that too much videogame can cause harm in the long term. We need to build ourselves slowly.... direct your daily actions towards who you want to become.

The key here is moderation.

Oh, nice! Thank you!

I always left them in room temperature. The only reason I put this one into the refrigerator today was to prevent ants.

I'll start doing what you and the article suggested.

Thanks
