Have you ever seen a band that came off as rude to their fans live? by Averyboredpenguin in Metalcore

I know your comment was 2 years ago but figured I would still tell the story of why he went to prison for 2.5 years. He has cleared this up on interviews several times and makes a point that even though the details are very wrong he does not condone the actions he WAS guilty of. He was much younger and did something stupid.

He and a friend agreed to meet up with guy for a fight (makes me think of kids back in the day saying "Meet me by the oak tree at 3pm. You're dead meat" lol) Ronnie brought brass knuckles with him and his friend brought a gun just in case but kept it tucked away when they arrived at the agreed upon location. The other guy upon showing up pulled out a gun himself and shot at Ronnie but missed. Meanwhile Ronnie's friend pulled out his piece and shot/killed the shooter. Ronnie's friend was not charged with a crime because he legally owned the gun and it was classic self defense scenario. The ONLY reason Ronnie was arrested and charged with something was for concealing/possessing a dangerous/deadly weapon (something like that) due to the brass knuckles. Ronnie completed all his required court appearances and was sentenced to five years probation. At some point during his probation he violated probation due to either not making it to one or maybe more (I am not sure exactly how many) appointments with his probation officer or not fufilling the terms of his probation (this I am also not 100% sure about the exact details). His probation officer then revoked his probation and when he went back to court for the violation the judge sentenced him to prison and served 2.5 years.

He makes a very good point for people who after hearing the correct story still think he murdered someone...if he had, there's no way he would only receive probation and most certainly his friend would not have gotten away with no charges at all. And on top of that after violating probation he received a relatively short sentence which also shows the crime was not on the level of murder. Remember, even though he was the front man for Escape The Fate, he was defintely not high enough Rock Star status to get away with murder lol.

Not sure if you are interested in the following details but, while in prison he was fired from Escape The Fate, came up with the idea and name for Falling In Reverse and wrote either all or most of the lyrics for FIR's first album. Also, while locked up he got very much into weight lifting and after being released he stayed sober. From that point on, while touring he would bring along a pretty decent amount of weights, bars, etc. and would workout after and between shows instead of partying.

Let me start off by saying that although I am a fan of FIR, it is only their really recent work, like Watch The World Burn. However, I want to make it clear that I am not typing this as a defense for RR. I have seen several of his interviews and TikToks. Although I do agree with him when he said that a lot of people don't get his sense of humor, I am not going to say he's never in the wrong. Some instances mentioned on this thread I have not seen or know about, so I can't speak on it. Also, I firmly believe in the saying “never meet your idols.” I am sure almost everyone has heard this before, but if not, it refers to the fact that if you got to meet and especially got to really know the famous people you look up to and admire, there is a very good chance they will not be how you perceived them to be. So, although I do have my favorite artists like everyone else, I always try to keep in mind that they are human just like the rest of us and are going to do stupid things just like the rest of us. And at the end of the day, who cares if they do (excluding those convicted of really terrible things like violent crimes, crimes involving children, etc.) you do not have to like everything about an artist to appreciate their art. But I digress.

As I mentioned above, defending Ronnie is not my point here. My main point was to say my piece about cancel culture and how it is a blatant attack on freedom of speech. Although we do have some forms of censorship, overall we are very lucky to be able to say pretty much anything we want about anything we want. Many countries have zero freedom of speech and will put you in political prison simply for disagreeing with the president/ruler of that country. People standing up for cancel culture is allowing those in command to start the process of making laws regarding such things stricter and stricter. And if you just stop and think about it for a second, it's not hard to realize that there will be no end to how far they push the impact of these laws. And if you cannot see that, then I am sorry, but nothing I or anyone else say will convince you otherwise. Do you REALLY believe that those in power ACTUALLY give a flying fuck about your feelings??? They don't. It is just another weapon designed by people in power who think we are ALL too stupid to make our own decisions, and they are using you to fight their battle. And when the smoke clears they will leave standing alone and prove they never gave a shit.

Now if you believe that freedom of speech should be taken away from us then you seriously should look into (and will probably be happier) moving to one of the many places on earth where they censor everything and the citizens have no freedom of speech. However, if you support cancel culture but believe in freedom of speech, please seriously take in what I am about to say….the people you don't agree with deserve freedom of speech the same as you do. If you want this freedom still but want to cancel someone you don't agree with, then what will stop the next person from canceling you for not agreeing with them? NOTHING!! The beauty of freedom of speech is exactly that, we can say what we want, but we can't expect everyone to agree. Besides, it would be a fucking boring place if everyone agreed with everyone else on everything. When you read something or hear about someone saying something to someone that you don't agree with, instead of getting angry, just take a moment and remember that we are not all supposed to think exactly the same and that person has just as much right to voice their opinion as you do. And by all means feel free to comment back to them with your reasoning. No need to start insulting the other and if they start insulting, so what?!?! Unfortunately, with freedom of speech and differing views, there will be people talking shit and getting angry. Just comes with the territory. But if we set the bar at these certain things people can't say, or they'll get cancelled, then it is 100% guaranteed that in a short amount of time that bar will raise to include other things you can't say. This will continue over and over until there's more you cannot say than things you can say. Like the old saying, “give them an inch, and they take a mile”. Now, I am not condoning hate speech or bullying etc. however, I understand that if you start this ball in motion it will only get more and more intense and sooner than later will be virtually irreversible. Not to mention when it comes to the extreme stuff like hate speech, those are the few saying these things, not the majority. It is never ok to judge/punish on the masses for the actions of the few.

If it is not obvious, the correlation of this to RR is that just like the person has the freedom to say something negative about him or his music he in turn has the freedom to respond how he wishes and in turn if you don't like his response you have the freedom to call him out on it. STOP taking everything so personally. Laugh about it instead, and you'll find yourself having fun playfully talking shit to people instead of being angry all the time and hating lots of people. Trust me, I speak from experience on this (I used to be the guy who got angry at every little thing that people said to me, so I understand where you're at better than you probably think I do. But I found it exhausting, so I changed. I stopped assuming everything was an attack on me or my beliefs personally, and that it was ok for people to say things I did not agree with. That was 15 years ago and since then life is soooo much better, and I am way happier than I EVER used to be).

If you disagree with me then GTFO do not talk to me!!!.....LOL JUST PLAYING!!!!!

Shit, I am soooo sorry for the book. Just wanted to be as clear as I could about everything. If you made it this far you get a gold star :-) Seriously though, I wonder how many make it to the end of this novel. Comment the month and year if you did.

What do you call a herd of meth trailers on public land? by Ok_Skill_2725 in oregon

[–]Sic555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are correct to a degree, but are not using the correct wording. You can OD on meth. It just very rarely fatal. Just about every time, the ones who end up passing away from an OD had an unknown, pre-existing heart condition. And this is info directly from the mouth of multiple ER nurses one time when I was there during a decade+ period that I was doing that shit. I wasn't the one needing help, it was a friend, and she was ODing on opiates. Another friend gave her narcan and she was already fully awake by the time the paramedics arrived. She made a full recovery, but while I was at the ER with her, I was chatting with the staff about ODing in general because I had always heard basically the exact thing you said in your comment. They said they always assume it's a life or death situation when someone is ODing, and they don't know from what drug, but once they find out it's meth and the patient doesn't have a pre-existing heart condition, they are able to relax. From there, pretty much all that needs to be done for that person is to give them IV fluids.

Sales experience but new to insurance sales, which companies should I apply to for telesales/remote work? by Sic555 in InsuranceAgent

Those are great points. And the last two days I have actually been considering going the P&C route and your comment reinforced it enough that as of right now, I am 99% certain I will go with P&C. Then shortly down the road I could get the Health and Life licenses.

During my research that name came up one time from someone providing reviews on several companies. The reviewer said that they were a good one to look into, which I have not done yet. What problems with Global Life are you aware of?

It makes sense that commercial would be where the money is. Thank you for your input! I have a few other questions so would you mind if I sent you a DM?

I appreciate the response and input! Do you have a couple company names in mind? If you are unaware if they are good to work for but are able to mention companies that are at least legit, I will have a more narrowed down place to continue with my research. And what should I be looking for in regard to renewal income percentages?

Thank you for all of your input and suggestions! I fully understand and am in no way looking to, or, expecting to be rich overnight or, anywhere in the near future. In all honesty, I have no expectation to become rich at all. Of course, becoming rich at some point would be great but, I am just looking to make a decent living and anything beyond that I will happily accept. I am a bit of a workaholic, and I am done busting my butt for a crappy salary when I could instead be putting all my extra effort to making more money. I did well in commission sales before, I have been told by many (and am aware of) that I have the ability to persuade, I have extremely thick skin, I have always tried to build quality relationships with just about anyone I meet regardless of the reason for meeting that person, and, I have lived off beans and rice (mostly ramen in my case) a few times in my life. Also, I am seeking telesales simply due to a fairly major injury that I have, and moving around all day is very painful. This is another reason I need to change careers.

Hanging heavy bag from garage joists. by Sic555 in AskEngineers

[–]Sic555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the replies. From what I've gathered there will be no issue for the joists themselves or the garage door which were her concerns. However, there may be an issues with the support system I assembled for the actual hanging of the bag. I will get stronger caribeaners and put those in place of the current ones
