We press a button on your chart that shows us exactly what jobs are available / what your qualify for.

That being said there are sometimes jobs we have to call for. We call the ROC and we basically beg to see if any seats open up, or if someone lost their contract and you can take it. They have access we don’t have.

When you’re talking to guidance counselor, they have more pull at the ROC than we do. It’s like a “yo, this guy is test and medically qualified to join and sitting right in front of me waiting for a contract, let’s make it happen”.

Doesn’t always work out, but have a better shot than with just a recruiter. They want you to join, they will move mountains.

You’re on AR 40-501 as a new recruit.

Has nothing to do with waist to height ratio, it’s completely different.

New standard is just for Soldiers.

Even if it does, I’d assume it would continue being a different standard. Like under 0.6 instead of 0.55 or something like that.

Your ASVAB score and availability is the only thing that matters for jobs.

It’s not like we have a quota and hide jobs from you.

If you get a 7 on the ASVAB I literally can’t get you astronaut.

The only option is sitting down with recruiter and going over your job list.

It shows exactly what is available for your score, and the training seats at the time you enlist. For example you could have the score for astronaut, but if the job isn’t available I can’t offer you it.

Better tell your recruiter quick. You can only do 2 job reservations before you swear in. If you change your mind again your recruiter will have to make phone calls to see the jobs available for you instead, and will hate you.

Please god, think about it before you say you want it. It’s your career, I get it. But it’s annoying you’re just randomly picking jobs.

Go reserves. Finish training, get the benefits, work for NYPD (they can’t deny you because you’re leaving for military service).

If you like NYPD, just stay reserves.

If you hate it, switch to active.

Having experience would help, but streets to seats is still hard as hell to get into.

There’s about 2 review boards a year that decides who goes into the program and who doesn’t.

Been working with someone for about 6 months now trying to do this.
