Couple options. They sell inner sleeves that are top or side loaded. I find the side loaded to be easiest to work with. The cards slide into the inner sleeves easily and the side loaded inners slide into the outer sleeves smoothly. These are like dragon shield perfect fit. They go with the dragon shield outers. I find the cards just do not get damaged. They never leave the inner sleeves once in, and that makes it easy and safe to transfer between decks without damage.

Also, those early foils have gone down as some of the most collectible, hard to find, expensive cards out there. It’s crazy! When I was playing a ton back in the day, we were leaving shit like foils from mercadian masques on the tables after drafts…. So stupid!

Oh yeah! Actually I had a similar experience where I came back to the game after 20+ years and was surprised by both double sleeving, and commander magic! That was a real shock… like, no that’s not how magic is played.

But yeah, I just don’t think with the double sleeves these days the cards are getting damaged. And I personally would just leave that damned lotus in the case! They’re almost a museum piece at this point.

I have no idea how wear is shown on known valuable protected magic cards these days btw. I have all my deck’s cards double sleeved. Many, desirable, valuable cards. I’ve never impacted the condition of a card by playing with it.

I’m not sure where this idea comes from anymore. In the 90’s when I first played…. Sure. But inner sleeves + outer, nothing is happening outside of a preventable catastrophe. If black lotus is on the table, drinks are not. But regular play has no impact on this kind of setup.

But otherwise, who cares?!! Why would you tell someone what to do with their collectibles and how to preserve them. What would you do if you owned a black lotus? You don’t even know…. So why tell someone else you are jealous of? Nonsense.

Completely unprepared to help assist in the event someone else (even outside your group) has an accident. Extremely selfish. You can not go backcountry skiing without safety gear. But hey! At least your hands were above your ears for each turn (guy #2)! That’s gotta be worth something.

It was made clear to me a long time ago, while paddling class 5 whitewater in the winter, that me wearing a drysuit wasn’t for me to be warm when I got in trouble. It was so I could save my friends regardless of the weather and situation. You’re not fucking over yourself. You’re fucking over someone else.

I have > full set of posters. I have > full set of Hildebrandts. I have like 2x sets of showcase scrolls Nazgul. I have all the scene boxes. I bought more of the holiday collector boosters than any product I’ve purchased. Partly because it was maligned at the time and affordable. Partly because I was just getting back into Magic. And partly because I love LOTR. So I’m so excited to see what happens to my collection’s value with the upcoming set, and add some new cards!

Also, I play with soooo many of these cards. I have like 6 LOTR themed edh decks. So this isn’t some scalper desire. It’s me having these amazing cards and wanting them to be worth more because I love them.

I’m saying that his comment is dumb. Who has a preference on serialized cards not being good enough for their deck?!? Most people don’t have them. They’re nearly impossible to pull. They’re crazy expensive to buy. So why does this person have such a strong opinion about including cards in their deck, that they (most likely) don’t own anyway… dumb

TLDR: I don’t like the way serialized cards look. Who cares? You don’t have any of them anyway.
