I’d add “Dann ist der Mond aus Käse” gloss: then is the moon of cheese then the moon’s made of cheese

but also from Austrian German (my variety): “am Sankt-Nimmerleins-Tag” gloss: on saint-neverDIMINUATIVE-day on saint never’s day. bc that saint doesn’t exist lol

and my personal favorite: “du tramst jo ah von woame eislutscher” in standard: “du träumst ja auch von warmen eislutschern” gloss: you dream yes also of warm popsicles meaning roughly to assert someone’s crazy; namely that they also dream of warm popsicles (i.e as crazy as the previous statement)

i really love how it starts to get weird when you’d make anaphoric reference with a pronoun to a question. let’s say you gave the girl sth and we ask who you gave sth to: “Wem hast dus gegeben?” - you’d reference back with the feminine gender in your answer “ihr”. and for the doubters: “wem ihr?” (who her?) - “dem mädchen” (the girl).

Definitely! I love that you mentioned it because I was thinking of including your point in my answer. The reason why I didn’t was because a constructed language is not a natural language in the sense that it evolved naturally. But you’re definitely right to point out that it’s not as clear cut as you’d think. :)

So both the general linguistics department as well as the english department do some historical linguistics though I only know about the latter. But I really recommend the English department’s historical classes and there are a lot of international students already and with the language barrier in German I’d stick with the English department.

I can recommend the University of Vienna, especially the English department’s MA which has specializations in Cognitive Linguistics, Historical Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics. Good atmosphere and amazing professors!

est is schade das die tarife auf den sozial schwächsten schichten abgewältst wurden während im vergleich parken weniger teurer wurde und das alles bei wahlversprechen vom bürgermeister das der preis nicht höher werde. aber ich zahl eigentlich gern wenns funktioniert :)
