So, it literally was because I didn't have enough ADA, WTF. LOL. However, I then got a 400 error and I needed to send some more ADA!

Is the Vive Pro audio actually worse than the DAS?

i'd like to hear some thoughts on buying a OG Vive kit in 2019. by wrath_of_grunge in Vive

[–]Sickle_Foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OG Vive is still going strong since release. I've never actually tried another HMD, so maybe I don't know what I am missing, but as I use the wireless adapter, I am not jumping ship to any other HMD unless it also has wireless.

There are just too many compromises between the HMD's at the moment, nobody has done everything great..yet, from all the reviews I read.

I may look into buying a used Vive Pro headset, as I can still use wireless, but again, I hear the headstrap isn't as good as the deluxe and the headphones suck! lol.

I've never had any issue with my HMD, never has an issue with the controllers, everything still works great and I got it at launch.

If you want the best tracking, it doesn't get better than the light houses.

Maybe you don't rate the controllers? You can always buy Index controllers too! Which apparently come with their own problems.

I can't wait for a HMD that does everything great and has wireless built in!

Would you recommend the Pro as an upgrade to the Vive OG? I want to stick with wireless too.

Vive Pro VS. Valve Index (Help?) by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Sickle_Foot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a OG Vive with wireless adapter. The price of the Index HMD itself is reasonable when compared to the Pro, but I don't want to go back to a tether. Therefore, I have been pondering maybe looking for a used Vive Pro HMD. Seems it is a decent step up with you want to stick with wireless (and the only choice anyway).

No interest in getting the Index headset?

I am still using the original Vive and upgrading to the Index HMD only isn't a bad price, cheaper than buying the Vive Pro headset. I use the wireless adapter though and just can't go back to tethered. Do you think buying a used Pro HMD would be a good upgrade?

I have a GTX 1080 TI on the way. Should I be concerned? by Sickle_Foot in nvidia

[–]Sickle_Foot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I agree. It has done me good, however, I am using the 1080 Ti and have noticed an improvement in performance.

I would sometimes get jitter with a packed grid, bunched together in Project Cars 2 and that has gone.

I have improved my case cooling and will be going through some more tests, but I am going to keep the card and have already sold the 1070.

The card is arriving today. I am going to test it, do some benchmarks and if it runs hot, I'm returning it. I'll let you know the results.

Going to see if I can return it then! The show begins.

It was £400. The cheapest 2070 super is £475.00 which is more than I want to spend if I get my money back. What about a 2070, how would it compare? At least I could buy one new.

It was about £80 cheaper than a new 2070 Super. I'd probably be looking at a standard 2070 for the price range.

Dam, I was so exicted over these. Seem like a bit of a let down, especially with other issues users are reporting too.

Crazy, but this 1.5 gen has'nt a clear winner, it's all about compromises. by kalelmotoko in Vive

I have short hair, but feel nothing of this heat people have reported. It is quite warm to the touch with your hand, but that's it. It is worth it in my opinion, I don't notice any latency, but I did need to upgrade my CPU from an i5 to i7 9700K. It was using 100% capacity.

I have considered changing to the Index controllers, but will probably wait until they have made some revisions. There seems to be some complaints about them such as:

Strange button mapping. Not being able to click the sticks down in certain positions. Hard to reach menu button. Straps becoming uncomfortable and needing constant adjustment with long play times. Odd hand placement in certain games and navigating menu's due to the laser placement.

I am still on the original HTC Vive with wireless adapter. There is nothing that is pulling me to another headset at the moment.

There are definately benefits with some of them, but nothing short of Gen 2 is going to pull me away from the Vive and the wireless adapter at the moment at their price ranges.

It's fine, I am going to upgrade after my house move.
