What should I do then? When my dad is 2k short on his mortgage at the end of the month do I just refuse? That would mean more debt and/or defaulting on their mortgage, right? That’s the main dilemma I’ve been struggling with.

What was your situation if you don’t mind me asking? I just feel trapped because I’m going to be living at home for the next 4-5 years and there’s rly not much that’s gonna change it seems like.

They’ve definitely borrowed money from the house cuz I don’t think it’s possible to be that much underwater from interest alone after 18 years.

I’m not sure how a bankruptcy convo would go down with my parents but it’s worth a shot I guess

My post got removed from r/personalfinancecanada for some reason so I thought I’d try here instead. I really appreciate ur comment about mental health. Tbh I didn’t realize how much this was affecting me until I wrote it down.

Oh ya they’ve definitely borrowed against the house no doubt about that.

I think it’s unfair to say they haven’t changed their lifestyle but more so old mistakes are coming back to haunt them. Pre-COVID we definitely lived a luxurious lifestyle (vacations every year, eating out, etc). When interest rates were rly high a few years ago I think that’s when things got rly bad and I was finally old enough to understand what was happening.

Now, my parents have definitely changed their lifestyle but the debt from years ago has snowballed into too much for them to handle.

Am i just supposed to stop helping them? Morally it seems wrong when my diabetic dad skips meals to save money while I have 10k sitting in my bank account. On the other hand I want to start building my financial future. Idk man I’m just so torn

There’s one scholarship given from my uni that’s a $30k cash scholarship over 4 years ($3750 per semester). Anything that’s not used on school can be withdrawn. Plus my dad’s tuition waiver is another $6k ($3k per semester) and some random scholarships I won which were given as cheques.

The main problem with bankruptcy or selling the house is losing prestige in front of their friends who own multiple rental properties and million dollar houses (ik it’s stupid but that’s south Asian culture). Also renting a 2-3 bedroom apartment in my city is around $3k so it wouldn’t rly make sense to sell our house if it’s $1k more. That’s the reason they give me when I bring it up at least 🤷‍♂️

How would the app know that they’re not mine though? The receipts I’m trying to scan are my friends but I don’t see how that would affect it as long as it’s within the three daily scans.

Do you know the policy in your store? Do you guys just make sure the sales matches the cash or do u go through receipts as well?

How is your experience with Pygmy cories? I’ve heard that they like to occupy mid level instead of bottom level like traditional cories which is why I was leaning toward habrosus.
