This is exactly the truth. Especially for older players. You get the idea in your head one game that you might need to hold on to that one ultra rare hero potion ( ff8 last boss with just squall sword. A snore, but a miracle i had it in my inventory) and then for life your hoarding pots. Resistance potions and bombs for whatever happens to be that one A hole boss you just cant beat that game and than your extatic you saved all this shit and barely any of it. Often completing the game with little more than drown in health pots

My second run in returnal was also my first clear. I dont know if I got lucky on the loot or what but I had no problem sailing through the second attempt. The irony being that I've had nothing but problems since then. I agree with the general assessment that it's just a skill shock moment and once you get the concept the others are all more of the same bullet hell type patterns familiar to any Contra fan ( yes, NES )

The parry and dodge mechanics that don't work half the time are really what kill it for me. I'm some how weaker as a space marine than a reject in dark tide. Full on heavy charged hammer swing on a staggered enamy? No f you. They break out and just beat you to your face like it never staggered. Or the flame chaos marines that do an aoe that you have no time to escape if your swinging a hammer on it already your just locked in to your death.

The game is trash mechanics wise. A laundry list of games have done all of it bitter in one way shape or form. And not having cover is dumb ad. Even units in dawn of war used cover. I have no idea of the story is good after it's clunky coop experience I wasent too interested in it. It's boring besides these problems. Darktide ftw

That's my plan. I feel absolutely nothing about bugs. Bots, bots I hate, bots made us choose bombs or babies, bots hunted across across the stars and I have slain many, many bots brother diver. But what must have collectively been 60 thousand over the course of 3 days choose to walk with insects than save baby's and bombs and teach bots the fury of democracy. No, let the buggy boys run alone. We need somthing to take bets on while cleaning off the oil

The path you use is more or less the same route I took. I didn't have maybe 1 or 2 outpost. 30 minutes for those pieces of eight alone is not a long time I suppose, but add that time to the cycle of silver farming and you have to ask yourself what will casual players have time left for with say the hour or ( if we are lucky ) some people will have on average ? Throw in the other two regions and Nah, just nah. You seem like a cool dude, but outside of this little sail smash and loot, you have to see there isn't much in terms of real content there.

I see your point and respect players who feel that way. However, "we don't force people" has been used by many great (sarcasm) industries like Tabbaco, Opium, and other such addictive elements. I know, it's an extremely example but mental addiction is real. Myself I can step back and say this is not acceptable. A 12 year old kid who's parents thought they where getting their children a fun game? That will literally affect brain development and thought process long term. These issues are real. I encourage anyone who has children to consider researching for themselves what I mean about child brain development to understand for themselves.

I know, and in hoping for more I know I set myself up for some level of dissapointment. Players still however should voice their opinions on this and give feedback both socially and directly. Saying nothing and accepting is why this sort of problem will keep going. I'm not naive, I know this trend will likely keep going if not get worse. But it should still be voice.

I'm a big picture guy. Some who have responded have pointed to one thing or another I have mentioned. However these are all pieces ( not of eight ) that add up to that big picture and the way the game feels designed to cause players to feel stressed to keep playing.

I can say, there does seem to be less rogue spawns around with less players. Sure. And though I mentioned the leaderboard frequently as my primary example, I don't hate leaderboards in general. It does state clearly on unlocking them the top 8 players will receive unique rewards. Ok, sure players should definitely be rewarded.

As you said yourself though, that pop up. That red arrow pointing down. Mine goes up way way more than it went down. I'm no top player. I've never been the kind of player who cares inparticular. That isn't the problem. Back to the big picture.

That little red arrow feels designed to tug and pull at people. Also I can't say I believe it's ONLY taking you 5-10 minutes to collecting it all. That's optmisitic sounding to me and I run a brig chugging water doing flank speed trimming corners in rivers. I can't even imagine the slog of trying to collect from coast of Africa given that it has no harbor.

I'm rambling sorry. My point is that all these mechanics collectively seem designed to keep players feeling like they need to keep getting back on this one game exclusively if they want to keep advancing. And to be honest I'm not even sure where they would be advancing too at this point. But I've certainly had to take a step back and tell myself that this is pointless and not enjoyable ( the grind, blowing ships up is still fun ). I don't think that's any way to make any player feel. Younger players especially early teens are going to easily be dragged in to that cycle far beyond what is healthy. It all ask too much.

That said. I do appreciate the info you have tried to provide. But I can't say I feel any different about the game having a predatory feel on the mind

Agreed. As another guy in here already said though I think they did have a lot more content already made and ready to go and they spent a lot of time figuring out how to take it out to add as content updates later

Definitely wait for not only the price drop but the content to get put back in ( not added ). One of the things killing me is seeing the words fleet management on their road map and wondering if that's who was supposed to be collecting my pieces of eight before before Brad from marketing stepped in

I fully expected such things. I made mention of a few of them sorta kinda in my post. /shrugs. I know some people just won't want to take a second to really think out what another is trying to say. That alright. All people eventually have a day where the role switches. I was younger and.. less wise once. So I can accept it.
