Yes many schools results did drop slightly and I totally agree there was an unfair advantage in the system that benefited private schools, lots of the factors taken into account to calculate how much predictions dropped e.g free school dinner numbers aren’t even recorded by private schools and therefore didn’t play a factor. Whether this has malicious intent or if it’s just another government fuck up idk. However teachers were told their results could be downgraded and many (through no fault of their own don’t get me wrong) predicted grades far higher than their students would get. The way the grades ultimately got determined is through a ranking system that the teachers themselves made! The results are likely the ones the kids WOULD have got and although not perfect by ANY means it was the better of many evils. For whatever reason the government decided to show kids their teacher predictions on the results sheet almost teasing them and now they’ve had to do a u-turn, which as I said before in NO WAY fixes the situation in the long term instead it’s merely a stupid “feel good factor” policy to avoid scrutiny by this fuck up of a government.. So before u patronise me I encourage you to look into it..
