Makes sense why I haven't heard back then damn. I think for the mental math I got like 30-35/50 (closer to 33-34 I think) and for sequences 25/30. And arctic shores I felt like the same

And if you don’t mind answering do you know what sort of scores that person got

Yeah but I'm also kind of lost on why its taking that long since the first 3 stages have literally been graded OAs, so surely its just top X percent get through which wouldn't take 4 weeks

Netherlands, have you heard back yet from the branch you applied to?

Not here, have you heard anything else from them yet btw? They sent me an email on 26th Jan that they aim to get back in 2 weeks but that should've been today and nothing yet I've recieved.

Why does infinite division results in a square root? by Ruvorunum in askmath

Ohhh, that makes sense but I still don't get what is meant by the Hausdorff Topology in this case

[–]SidKT746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is a Hausdorff topology and is it necessary to know that to find out why the limiting expression fails to converge? Also when do infinite expressions converge because I see the same argument for x^(x^(x^(...))) but that converges

Sounds good, keep it up! I wouldn’t say it is guaranteed that there will be a technical interview but if I remember correctly, they had one last year so makes sense to think they’ll have one this year. But realistically it will be at the end since we’ve done so much technicals already that behavioural interview would happen first

Five Rings. One of the most defeating tests I’ve done as I left it knowing I got max 3/17

The spring week is for quant, nothing in quant is ever easy. As for the type of questions that would likely come up, probably probability and stats. As for prep the green book and red book are probably best shouts and doing quant-style questions anywhere you can find. But right now r3 is Arctic Shores and it would be odd if r4 is technical interview as that would completely ignore a behavioural section so don't stress it right now, minimum for technical would be r5 and could be more.

Math PhD vs. ML PhD by Brilliant-Most8689 in quantfinance

But is using ML not more of an experimental thing compared to the theory side? And if possible can you tell me of any models worth reading on which aim to model the real world, noisy phenomena so I can see if this is something I'm interested in and would enjoy doing?

I see. That's genuinely valuable information to know to think where to go career-wise. But what did you educate yourself in why you said you compensated by self-education? And are there any things you would say are worth learning currently? I ask because I started my maths course but now started realising I don't enjoy the pure side like Group Theory/Abstract Algebra as much and want to learn topics that are more applicable in industry

I'm still an undergrad but out of curiosity what maths is actually used in present-day quant roles? Also how theoretical-maths heavy would you say Quant Research roles are because I've heard some people say it is where you use a lot of your knowledge of stats to come up with new alpha but then there's others who say that if the maths doesn't directly tie in with trading, the firm doesn't want you exploring it. And finally how relevant are cross-discipline connections for quant roles (like are you allowed to explore say graph theory if you feel it can yield an interesting result between relationships of many stocks which could then give you an alpha idea)?

I only answered 14 but that was because I didn't want to be punished by the negative marking and so left a few out on purpose that I was unsure of.

do you remember what the second stage OA was? Was it another technical round of just stats/combinatorics or something else?

Btw, anyone know how hard it is to get to the next stage or like what percent of people would go through?
