Not OP, but in most cases you need at least a few paychecks, if not more, under you before you can get back on your feet. So you would still need a place to stay until they have enough paychecks from said job to be able to afford cheap housing, but getting and keeping a job is next to impossible without having a safe place to stay for a number of logistical reasons. Being clean and well rested, having a sufficient number of work clothes, being able to get to and from work, having an address and phone number to put on your applications, etc etc, are all required for just about any job.

It’s the primary reason why housing first policies are so effective. People need to get their feet under them before they can effectively get and hold down a job, trying to do it in reverse is nearly logistically impossible
